So, is looking holy the most important thing, or is acting holy.
And, by "holy", do you mean abiding by UPC dress codes?
And, your thread topic referenced looking "Pentecostal", but your first post distinguished between saints and sinners. Are you saying that everyone who doesn't abide by the UPC dress code looks like a sinner?
Just curious.

Sinners and non-pentecostals/apostolics recognize that sometimes more quickly than apostolics do in my experience. They're (apostolics) all about the outward appearance in regard to clothes and hair. That's what they look for and recognize as being "one of them".

Contrary to Thad's beliefs, it has continued to happen to me.
They will say "there's just something different about you" or "you must be a true Christian, I wouldn't have handled that as good as you did".
Oh well. I look like a sinner though.

I've had unbelievers recognize joy, peace and love radiating from my life. Those who are in darkness are often more able to distinguish and recognize "light" than those who are walking and living in it because of what they think light should "look" like.

Wow!! Two great posts here...
Can't even tell Light when we see it because we're looking for signs of Light instead of Light...heaven help us!!

I know this will be hard to believe....
But I have had several strangers walk up and say "You are a Spirit Filled Christian aren't you?" It is sort of spooky actually especially when one is not expecting it.

that might depend on the time of day... LOL not being a morning person at all...
seriously though.. I don't think of outward appearance anymore..but you really can tell someone is a Christian or not by their actions.
I was talking with a friend recently about my oldest daughter… she looks a lot like I did in High School… it has amazed me to watch her grow up and how genetics work…. she looks like me, but she acts like her father. She is very outgoing, fun loving, and the actions, expressions, and speech totally reflect a different person although she looks like I did at that age. People will see pictures and say how much she favors me….then meet her in person and because of her actions/expressions she is undeniable her father’s daughter.
My friend said… “That is the way it should be with us as Christians… whenever someone looks at us, the speech, actions and every part of us should be how we are identified … so much so that there is no denying who our father is.”
