The Mayor says that in addition to the six confirmed dead there are 10 people in critical condition and that the statistics are going to get worse tomorrow.

Right now 40-60 injured are the numbers being used. I have a feeling the recovery effort is going to reveal more deaths since it is now dark and that slows things down.

They have searched approximately 50 vehicles on the bridge and in the debris but there are still divers in the water looking for submerged cars, people, etc. The guess is that 3-50 cars went into the water. I am afraid that is where the additional fatalities are going to be.

I know this may have already been addressed but my question is, did at some point on the bridge, did it go over another area of road? And if so do they have any account of how many cars may have possibly been trapped underneath the bridge?

Someone interviewed said there was just a small service road underneath and it just crossed under the bridge, did not run underneath it parallel.

I think the biggest question right now is how many cars are submerged under the water. Hopefully not too many.

I have been watching footage taken earlier of a female diver in a wet suit but no mask or tank checking out partially submerged cars.

I am watching and this is so sad. I agree I pray there arent too many either. But you have to wonder with it happening at the beginning of rush hour.

A lot of this is going to depend on how deep the water is under the bridge. Does anyone know? I saw some footage of a submerged car, but it was not completely under the water. This gives me hope. There may be people trapped in their cars, but not completely under the water.
