Re: My New Lady Friend

How can I express that every believer really, really should-- that they need to, really, really need the Holy Ghost-- without making speaking in tongues a mandate for salvation?

How do you convince people who are already saved that they should be baptized?

Why should they-- are they going to live their saved and dedicated lives for Christ and then be cast into hell because they were never baptized?

The Bible is very, very clear about the commands of repentance and baptism.

How do I communicate this to people in a way that is not so conflicted, so ratched with pain?

Re: My New Lady Friend

Jermyn, you are displaying that you can see both sided of the argument. That's not necessarilly a bad thing. I think it is a good thing. You are a critical thinker. And that has caused some distress. why? because now you are in the middle of the road. Traffic is going in two directions, and you do not know which direction to take yourself. You have to determine what is going to be absolute. Oneness? Baptism?
And then you have to determine what is obsolete. Cleanshaven rule? No tv?
ETC.
It is possible and highly probable that YOU [attempted to] set aside "core" doctrine as you weeded out your garden of those things that you determined to be legalistic.

Absolutely true!

Every person that I witness to and pray for, I try to convey to them the importance, the necessity, of the Holy Spirit baptism!

At the same time, I'm sure that the Phillipian jailer and the Ethiopian experienced full salvation before the conclusion of their Biblical narratives.

Telling someone, even implying, that you have to speak in tongues in order to be saved is adding to the Bible! I feel very strongly about this!!!

Still, I want everyone to experience this and definitely can't have peace about dating someone that has not:

Repented,
Experienced water baptism in the Name of Jesus, and
not been filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

Jermyn,
go to a upc! MANY are not into standards... and of the few that are, fewer "preach" them.

And it's easier for us... we're men. All the rules are for the ladies!!!

I think my Pstor would say that I'm double-minded and self-willed.

What a terrible combination!

Since I have not worked through my own frustration(s), I think my mind has made this beautiful woman simply unattractive to me so that I don't hurt her or myself.

It was either my subconscience, or the Almighty God looking out for both of His children!

Berkley I already do!

This is beyond standards for me-- I've worked out the doctrine of sanctification in my mind. The values of separation and consecration and how Christians can practice these principles in a way that is not legalistic.

A double-minded man is unstable.
