Are you trying to claim that Christian schools do not produce single mothers?

Well its just that - freewill donations that are used for the basic welfare needs for widows or those not able to work physically or mentally. Of course, the program has zero paid administrators and no administrative overhead. It makes people want to give IMHO.

Re: Is Welfare a Right?

Do any UPC churches have a "benevolent fund"?

I have not seen any in my region.

I've seen plenty of girls sitting on UPC pews become single mothers.

My problem is that I'm still trying to figure out what the price of eggs in China has to do with that I've been asking you. I'll even spell out my problem to you: As long as single mothers will be around then we are going to have to figure out what to do about them. Nothing you've claimed said that single mothers would be eliminated. Instead, your claim was that Christian schools REDUCE the number of single mothers. You do understand the difference and why my question still stands right? Or are you the one who has no reading comprehension?

Thanks for the support despite our disagreement on the other thread

So how is the money distributed? Does your freewill donation go from your hand directly to the hand of the person in need or is there a middleman?

It works both ways depending on how great the need is and the churches own policy. Very often it's not in the form of money at all. Perhaps its a work day where the men cut a winter's worth of firewood while the ladies can 300 qts. of vegetables. Perhaps it's being on a volunteer rotation to provide round the clock care for a severely handicapped person. Or taking turns to buy the weeks groceries for a struggling family.

The "middleman" if needed would be assigned for facilitation of the funds in the life of the needy person. He would help to pay bills and manage money the church provided.

Interesting. Does this program exist under all mennonite/amish communities?
