These kinds of things DO happen! They may be the exception rather the rule, but the fact that they happen is very sad, indeed.

RRFORD - Not only was I told this by my then Presbyter but after a few months - the new pastor - GP - who left after a short time - told me the exact same thing and said he was sorry about his role in it. It was all as unethical as it could be and those in the know - knew it - maybe they just did not let you know about it!
The whole thing was over control!
Why get so upset about it - I paid them MORE than I owed them and left quietly - they got just what they wanted!

The reason I brought it up again - you guys seem to think that everyone believes the same in the UPC and you don't. You can't even agree among yourselves and some of you are embarrassed that stupid rules are on the books and some of us know about them and stood against them.

Again, I sat on the committee that approved it and that was never a part of the consideration. Sorry. It just don't fly.

And they happen in every type of organization and every type of church.

Further, tomorrow I will contact GP and ask him specifically if this was the case.

Hey Bro. I am not taking it personally. I just totally disagree with the reason you stated. If it happened like you said then someone did a great job on a 12 member committee. Got my doubts.

The sad case of it is - the UPC has two churches now in Marietta - and neither one of them have ever done anything or amounted to much. I did buy my own building and there is a church there with over 500 in it today and neither of the UPC ones have ever even bought a building. Both were a result of splits and move in's. I did not start ours with move in's or a split. I worked my butt off building that church and then felt like I was totally undermined.

You know RRFORD - I could say a WHOLE LOT here - but I will leave it be. I loved them - and then I left them - I have some great memories and learned a lot. God bless them all!

Let me get this straight: Are you saying the church you started in Marietta grew to 500 people?
