About a year ago I worked with an older, semi-retired, politically far-right pro-Trumper guy who told me he believed President Trump was a reincarnation of some great American patriot of the past, possibly from the Revolutionary War.

I meet the most interesting people when I have group Bible studies out in public. The City of Fort Lauderdale we have quite a bit of amazingly fascinating, and really out of their mind overly religiously patriotic individuals. I have had people who keep coming up with new dates for Trump to expose Dementia Joe, and kick him out of the White House, to people who believe that Trump is the Antichrist. I must say, it makes one sit back in awe to see how "Christians" (no matter what flavor you're partial to) totally lose their minds over the past few years.

Has the church always been this involved when it comes to politics? I'm referring to Pentecostal/Apostolic churches.

It just seems to me, it started with Obama, then heavily increased with Trump and even the more in 2020.

I don't think it's her choice. I'm pretty sure the WH is keeping President Harris (Biden's words, not mine) under wraps. I heard they recently sent her to Ukraine. Methinks they're trying to get rid of her.

Speaking personally, I started getting political after Sept. 11th. I really didn't pay much attention to politics before that. I remember Reagan, I remember the Berlin wall coming down, I even remember the twin towers bombing, but that didn't really affect me. It was just some events that happened elsewhere. Though to be fair, I was in my early teens - barely out of adolescence - when that all transpired, so I had "more important" things (to a kid, anyway) on my mind. Sept. 11th happened in my 20's, so it was much more impactful to me.

Any religion with an open ended eschatology is going to apply their current events to their religious world view. Everyone from Pope Leo X to Adolf Hitler were tagged as the antichrist. Therefore since most Christians see their eschatology open ended everyone sees themselves as being the terminal generation. Hence anything happening on the world stage, the advent of the Atom Bomb, the rise of communist Russia, and fascism in Germany, COVID 19, vaccines, now Ukraine and Russian invasion get manipulated into the sermons of the day.

There was an article I read in maybe 2003 titled something like
From Pentecostal Pacifists to Dogs of War.

No, a lot sooner than Obama.

The article mentions that there were Pentecostals on the streets rooting for their candidate.

Ya know, disregard. I think I’m confused. I hit my head yesterday when I slipped on ice.
