How will God judge us who are in Ivory Towers while the World goes hungry?

How will he look at his elect and said I was a hungered and you fed me not?

Will he judge the church by more than how we dress or live?

I don't think that God wants his people to be poor but blessed... but even the blessed can grow fat and content...

It might not just be preachers that have to give an account for their excess and abundance, though they are the ones that get most of the criticism.

Just a thought.

So how many people have, or had, a pastor who believed in a "double portion" due the ministry?

I ask because I had a pastor who thought that..... And back in the 80's our church of 130-140 was giving him 70 grand a year AND making house payments.

Timothy had a pastor that believed that.

"Double honor" is an interesting phrase in Greek.

I was listening to someone recently who said he talked with a young man.... or read it somewhere..I can't remember...

The young man came to his Pastor and said," Why isn't God blessing me like he used to... "?

The Pastor said,"Back when you were making 500 bucks a month it was easy to give the Lord 50 Dollars...and you were so faithful... "

and the Pastor continued...
"But now that you make 10000 a month...it is so hard to give the Lord 1000.00... "

He said to the Young Man, "Let's Pray".."Lord help this young man to back to making 500 dollars a month so he can be faithful and you can bless him..."...

Are you kidding??? Not all success in ministry can be tied to attendance nor can all increase in attendance be tied to the Pastor's abilities. Remember, God gives the increase.

If Joe Schmoe has to barely make ends meet on a 30k salary and support his family and NOT even be able to own a house, why should he be stuck with an added burden of not only supporting the Pastors salary but also a free home and car?
There are specific IRS guidelines for housing & car allowances for ministers. That's typically why housing / car is provided separately from salary.

Saints feel the pressure when the pastor talks about money every sunday as well.
