Ferd, in your opinion what methods would be better?

already answered bro. you must have missed it.

regular metal detectors, dogs, and other "sniffer" devices.

wands etc. and a review of Isreali screening proceedures. they do it very well over there and dont gab peoples junk or look at their nekkidity.

Sandie... sometimes the TSA can't release information that they have. It would alert various terrorist groups as to what tactics we're looking out for... it would also endanger various intelligence sources.

This can be a very complicated issue. Remember, the people on the ground who are reporting the methods terrorists are considering could be compromised. They are risking their lives to help us, do we endanger them because someone is upset about getting a mere patt down?

You had me until the use of the word "mere".

THAT is part of the problem the average citizen who wants to travel via air has with this whole situation.
Our concerns are not validated, so we fear they'll never be addressed.
We're just a bunch of whinny cry babies ignorant of the real world.

My point is that a patt down is just a mere patt down compared to an agent or informant loosing their lives. I guess they don't matter?

Coadie has obviously dominated the thread and convinced people that the TSA is nothing but thugs. It's a lost cause. I guess being on the frontline of the homefront security network is just one of those thankless jobs.

not true for me.

my attitude about this has nothing to do with actual TSA employees.

Coadie hasn't convinced everyone that the TSA is all thugs. My hat is off to you.

I don't work for the TSA. I'm in a totally different agency. But I work along side the TSA guys. You should talk to a few and get their perspective if they are willing to tell you anything. Most of the time, they are not allowed to even discuss it. So... it's like being verbally beaten up in the public arena... and being unable to say word one to defend yourself.

Re: How the TSA shakes down a fully armed squad

From an internal perspective... the TSA agents that will be tasked with monitoring the full body scanners aren't absolutely thrilled with the idea either. They're the ones that will be screening people. Have you seen the people that go through the airport? The vast majority of those passing through the scanners are far from looking like members of an all girl or all boy volley ball team. All I can say is YUCK. I wouldn't want the job.
