I'm surprised that you guys are getting ice. For some reason I thought it was more of a southern thing, since it has to be a little warmer. So...you guys are in the low 30's and we have 11 with a wind chill of -5. It's upside down! Crazy!

When I lived in Owosso, Michigan, they got ALOT more snow than I was used to getting in Ohio. When I would go out to go to work and the snow was up to the bottom of my car windows, I would go back inside and call my boss to let him know I'd be in after I could get out of the parking lot. He would just laugh at me.
One day we got a major ice storm - really major! I just drove to work slowly and made it fine. But the boss wasn't there. So I let myself in and then called him at home to ask where he was. He couldn't believe I had braved the weather to get to work in that ice. Then he says to me, "But I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Everytime I drive thru Toledo in the winter time, I always get in the middle of an ice storm. Every time!"
LOL. I think he was exaggerating a bit. But honestly, ice isn't unheard of here. Doesn't mean we like it tho. I, for one, do NOT!

A giant branch off of our 50 foot Silver Maple just came down under the ice. It landed exactly betweet the front of our house and the power lines in front. I couldn't have aimed it better to avoid damage. Surely the "Ice" angels are busy tonight.

LOL - Margie - you took the ice to Michigan with you!
Check out the originality of the National Weather Service. They're predicting that tomorrow and Thursday will be, um, "cold."

Re: Record snow storm in the works Feb. 1st
I got stranded at work once because of an ice storm. Luckily I worked where there were extra beds available.

yeah, it is odd... only about 30 here right now. My desk top weather bug states 28 in Greenfield. They say that we would have had tons of snow if it was colder. The warmer air coming up from the South is what caused us to stay warmer.
The temps are supposed to drop, and only be in the teens Thurs/Fri... then come back up some.

yeah, we do have ice from time to time, and I know that there has been some bad ice storms in this area, but I haven't had to deal with much of it before now.
I lived in MI for a while, this winter here in IN has reminded me of living in MI. Seems like every week, we have a storm system move thru and dump some snow on us.. but we are equipped for the snow around here.
You are probably tired of the snow too Margie.

Re: Record snow storm in the works Feb. 1st
It is 14 degrees here in the Dallas area, it snowed most of the day, very lightly, we have maybe a half inch. But everything is closed because we have also have a half inch of ice.
Fortunately, it came as sleet, so it is not ruining the trees. Low of 13, for tonight.
Very nice day all warm and snuggled up, beat my wife in a big game of chicken foot, now she's not interested in playing. LOL. She usually wipes me out, maybe speed Scrabble tomorrow, since every thing is closed again.

We had -24 here a couple weeks ago. Thankfully, it's warmed to a balmy -2 at the moment. Supposed to get up to 10 today.
