How is it that God causes a conviction to come over a very small, small group of people about wearing this or that? Now if it was really God I think He would only be fair (and He is a fair God) if he convicted everyone the same.
It's pathetic how some chosen few think they are the only ones that are holy and righteous and stand in condemnation of everyone else, with their self-righteous heads held high, full of themselves.
Don't mean to be ugly but some of the things posted here must cause God great concern. And the sad part is that some of the self-righteous individuals probably wouldn't hear Jesus even if He was here in person.
And I guess Jesus garments were of the simplest, poorest, taste, causing less attention to be drawn to them. NOT! If the outward adorning was so important why wouldn't He having been wearing something that wouldn't call attention to them?
John 19:23* Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat:
now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
24* They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
Why do intelligent individuals take the passage from
1 Peter 3, and try to prove that the outward adorning is what he's talking about.
1 Peter 3:3* Whose adorning
let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
(What part of "let it not be" do you not understand?)
4*
But let it be the hidden man of the heart,
(hidden man of the heart doesn't sound to me like outward anything!) that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
(And again, what part of "let it be" do you not understand?)
5* For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, (watch here now what he's talking about!)
being in subjection unto their own husbands: (Not what they are wearing!)
6*
Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, (He's talking about obedience to her husband) calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
Oh well, the closed minds are CLOSED! I hope they will be OPEN sooner or later.
