He said firmly that he would not be part of a group with that type of an attitude.
Even though he did say that, he also said that there were many good men in the AMF, and that many of the founders of it were great men of God. I have heard some preachers who are affiliated with the AMF preach, and wish that I could hear their messages again.

My Brother, that is for sure. There are good men in every movement. I grew up on great preaching and love to hear a preacher that can preach the Word with Passion and Power. My pastor the late Bishop G E Patterson was in my opinion the greatest preacher on earth and he was a kind and compassionate man. I have heard him rebuke other Bishops and lay the law down and I wept like a baby as it felt like judgment was coming on everybody. God have mercy - He could make you feel the flames of hell reaching up to engulf you at any second. Yet - he preached with a love for people and to save them from hell. He would preach in 15 minutes and wreck the house with the Power of God.
There are mean people in every movement. I have had to repent to many a person and tell folks to stop listening to my old tapes from 20 years ago as they do not convey my heart. People say I am much more compassionate and sensitive in the pulpit now but I have gone through hell on earth and mighty battles to bring me to a place of compassion. I still believe in Holiness - just not the same brand as others!

Re: Doctrine and Holiness Conference
I struggle with accepting "standards" based on "Apostolic Identity". It seems they are standards that conform an individual to the image of some bygone era of Pentecostal religion. Lately, the holiness teaching I've been under emphasizes "Christlikeness", Jesus as the standard. We are to cultivate a "oneness" with Christ through the Holy Spirit, allowing Christ Himself to be formed in us and be our very life's essence. It's not "What would Jesus do?", it's "Be an extention of Jesus Himself" until your very shadow has His healing power.
One standard that encompasses all we are and therefore enfluences all we do...
Jesus

Re: Doctrine and Holiness Conference
I think for some of us, we long for the days of an old fashioned Holy Ghost Move of God Revival where the choir sang to the Hammond Organ and the power fell, people testified of the goodness and healing Power of the Lord, the preacher preached a message of love, faith, hope, healing and a loving and merciful God that died on a cross for the sins and sickness of mankind. Conviction falls and the altars fill up with people crying out to God for Mercy and to save and sanctify them holy and the Holy Ghost falls and people shout and dance and march and magnify God as the manifest power of God fills the atmosphere. Miracles take place as hands are laid on the sick and afflicted in faith in the mighty Name of Jesus. People are filled with the Holy Ghost and go to the water to be baptized without anyone trying to preach them to hell if they don't. Whosoever will, let him come! My soul longs for it and I think so many times that those days and that era is over and we are sadly missing what was the Glory Days of Pentecost.

I do not think it all went quite like that. But I do agree with the vast majority of your post. I was listening tho HGR the other night, and as the message began, the organ was playing as the preacher sang 'He Set Me Free' (I think that was it, but I am probably wrong). You could hear the thrill and excitement in his voice as he sang the song with great anointing and enthusiasm. That was the type of thing my Mom and Dad were raised on, and I grew up hearing and singing those songs. I grew up where the power would seem to fall like rain, and people received the Holy Ghost without the preacher having to preach.
My Mother has said that to have that power again, we must first be willing to pray, fast, and get a relationship with God like our fathers did. Only then will we ever see a return of the glory. As I believe I heard NW say on HGR recently, "Revival is spelled W-O-R-K." This is as true today as it was 50-110 years ago.

Re: Doctrine and Holiness Conference
I went to Liddieville, La. to the 32 anniversary of the Church this week. Heard good preaching and a powerful move of the Holy Ghost.

Your talk simple means that the fire in some places have gone out, but I totally disagree that the best is behind us I believe that the best could be yet ahead of us.
I believe that God can send a mighty revival that could dwarf anything from the past. My God is powerful and able to create mighty miracles. My god is alive and full of glory. he is majestic and awsome.
Jesus is the same yesterday, today and tommorrow.
The Glory Days of Pentecost could be ahead of us, we need a vision and a desire to see revival.
Some people get stuck in some eras, and miss those eras, but it doesn't mean that those eras are the best eras.
I am getting ready to have revival, a mighty revival so great that someone in the future will refer to our next future years as the golden era of Pentecost.
The fire of God still hot and it has not dimished one bit, come on and jump in.
