HeadQuarters.
It should have read, people pay more attention to DISTRICT than HEADQUARTERS (District vs. Organization). I have often heard that HQ is just a figurehead and the real work happens at the District level. Just a differentiation in district vs. organization and the two being the same...but different.

What I mean is that the district will be happy to sweep it up under the rug if the pastor will say "oops, didn't mean it".

Brother taking brother to law and that before the unbelievers!
The UPC needs a lot of prayer.

Why would he lie? That would just compound the problem.

I don't think it should be taken to the legal system ... but it would be beneficial for it to be brought before the court of public opinion.

Look, here's the deal. I know there has been so much talk about tv and the UPC over the years, but this is about to get very, very dirty. That anyone would prosecute this in the current political climate is amazing.

Well, nothing as minute as this.
I think if there was some major crime that was committed...then yes.

The man must not have thought it through, obviously. I agree that one should abide by the bylaws . . . especially if signed.
I just absolutely hate it that this honest man is being raked over the coals while others --- in HQ positions no less --- sign the statement while owning and subscribing to cable television.
And I'm upset that this honest man is being forced to either hand in his license or give up his television when in another district a pastor has blatantly lied, was caught in that lie --- Bishop Haney even sent out a letter saying he lied --- he's completely unrepentant and even rebellious about it, and yet he's allowed to still hold license, remain a pastor and was just voted in as a Presbyter.
The hypocrisy is amazing . . .
