"You Can't Be Saved Without a Pastor."

OK, it has been over a couple of decades since I was in the UPC and I do remember ministers that were as blunt as this guy is. Are there still pastors in your districts (for those who are still in the org) who say what this man does? Or are we talking about just small pockets of UC's scattered around?

There are trinitarians that preach like this as well. I was taught similar things in the COGIC church and the Full Gospel movement has a few like him as well. This isn't anOP phenom...

I've rarely heard it so bluntly though, at least not for many years. He even says stuff like if "dress like your pastor dresses" and if you hear preaching and your pastor looks concerned then YOU need to be concerned!

I guess his HONESTY is refreshing at any rate.

That's I was taught as a child. I remember being taught that in the church I grew up in which was not OP, and it was taught pretty bluntly especially at the Full Gospel church.

I've seen familys name thier boys after the pastor. and also men comb and part thier hair the same way. It still goes on today. i've seen out here in Indiana at many UC churchs. We are to be Christ like Not like man. People need to be themselves and seek after what God wants you to be. He dont want Robots.

There's nothing wrong with that.

I have a sneaking suspicion that MOST people who dress and comb their hair the same way are also most likely self-proclaimed "eyes and ears for the man of god!" always looking at Sis Mildreds legs hoping to catch a bit of knee when she sits in order to "report to the man of god!" their findings or to do some detective work and find the REAL reason the Jacksons were not in Church Tuesday night.

I'd just about bet ya money, that Ol' Epley espouses this mindset.

He prolly thinks he's "helping"
Not too hard to see why anyone who
sounds even a little different is ridiculed.
