Let me explain it again for you
You have a church service replaced by a program for fathers. Now I never said I had a problem with father's DAY so clear the burr is up your "craw' so tight you can't read clearly.
The issue was scrapping church for an hour long (or longer) program for fathers and having a 1/3 of the congregation there who are not fathers and don't even have fathers sit through your selfish little parade.
That was bad enough until the liberal and conservative pharisee's showed up and demanded we sit through your little program else be called selfish.
Like I said before, have a little something for the Fathers on Father's day and Mothers on Mother's day but not scrap the whole service just for that.
It's possible to have something for them and then also have a regular service for the entire congregation

There was no anger in the first post until the pharisees showed up and calling me selfish,
I have a genuine concern not just for me but for visitors that come to a program expecting a service. For the teen aged girl whose father is in prison and has to sit there for an hour of "My father is so great".
It's amazing the level of insensitivity we can get from both Liberals and Conservatives

Im not expected to go, neither are all the men or young me. It's not usually a program replacing a Sunday Morning service.
Do you understand that? Women's Conferences are NOT for everyone...neither are Father's day programs. It's exclusive but billed as a "service" so lots of unsuspecting people go.
I chose not to. Now can you explain how not going to someone elses "day" makes me selfish when all I would be doing is trying not to fall asleep through the hour long non-church service "celebration"?
How arrogant can you be to demand we ALL sit through your little self exaltations of fatherhood?
You want to have father's day? That's fine. You don't need the non-fathers or those without fathers in order to do it do you? Now THAT is selfish Charnock...demanding we all have to go to your "party". ROFL

My Pastor doesn't demand I show up nor does he call me selfish, but then again he isn't a judgmental pharisee either. So clearly I was not talking about my Pastor..
I do get what is happening though. I pointed out the truth that people feel alienated in those "service" and somehow hearing that truth has rocked some people's utopian boat. You don't want to know or hear about it because it might require being a Christian and having some sensitivity to your brothers and sisters in Christ who are hurting. But the best some can muster up is vitriol and attacks.
It really does reveal the state of "the church" in America when you can't consider ways to minister to your own brothers and sisters.
