Polygamy is ultimately self-defeating. I mean, how many mothers-in-law can one man possibly stand?

In the future people might not drive cars, and would call you immoral for driving a car, would you feel right to be judged by future standards?

Like you judge Mohammed? Answer the question already. It has been asked several times. Yes or No? For people so sure about 7 th century morality you sure have a lot of difficulty with morality in the bible. Why? Its infallable! So answer.

It was immoral for the Americans before the civil war to own slaves because most of the time they were cruel (if not all of the time). So I am not sure what your motive is for asking the question. Onisamus in the new testament was Told by Paul to return to his master. Today when we work our jobs we are really servants paid for our time, and as such we owe our time to our employer. We are all to be servants of God, and as such, God is the model of what we are to serve. So, really it isn't immoral unless you treat a slave or servant with cruelty.

My foot it was working off debts. Father is allowed to sell daughter as a maidservant in the bible. A woman was never released like a man in the bible. If a man slave married a woman slave he was released but his wife and children still belonged to the owner as property. You stop sugarcoating. Is that moral law? You suggesting that buying someone from someone else and paying the person you bought him or her from is equivalent to "employment"? Hahahahahahahahaha.....

The difference is, the Bible simply records their actions, but doesn't necessarily condone it. The Koran, on the other hand, actively condones actions that are despicable.

Re: Is the Bible all you need for your morality?
I wonder if our definition of slave exactly matches the ancient Hebrew definition of a slave?
In America we have a lot of baggage that goes with the word "slave". I automatically think that a slave owner can abuse, beat or kill a slave on any whim. I do not think this was the case in Israel. I could be wrong. I am sure someone will correct me.
I just think it is a bad idea to read our current situation into ancient history of a different culture.
Oh and for the record I think any form of slavery is wrong in ever situation. Period.
