well, you can read that you will do even greater things, so the statement that i'm taking you mean to be the truth, that you cannot walk on water, might just be holding you/us back from perceiving the truth, which you are calling a lie. Not sure i picked the best example for this, but we'll see.
Facts are surely the presentation of a truth, from the speaker's pov, but i'm sure you would agree that there are not two sides to the truth, as there always is with two people presenting facts. A fact might be completely true, and still truthfully deficient. You can't pick up a car, but we have plenty of accounts of people picking up cars.
So the point is that facts can condition one into prejudices that are not true, if they are accepted as truth, without accepting the other side's facts also. Hence we run to tell our side first. Christ was crucified on facts.
