Re: Does Everyone Live Forever?

Did Paul ever mention "Hell"?

Did he ever use the word "Gehenna"?

Did he ever use the word "Hades"?- Hint on this one. Who does he say was there?

How long will the feeling of burning last when one is cast in? Is it just a quick flash in the pan and it's over? what is your thoughts on this?

Re: Does Everyone Live Forever?

Who cares whether he did or did not in terms of establishing eternal nothingness. Annihilation cannot be deduced from your questions, not from some "if it's not #1, then this", when scripture defines the last death as the lake of fire being the ultimate repository for everything not righteous, the fulfillment of eternal reward, and the ultimate reaping of what one sows. Everything else is skirting that solid doctrine.

It's settled as a foundation doctrine of the faith. ETERNAL JUDGMENT.

We should be taught it in our very early conversion.

As I think back over my time in the Churches I cant remember even ONCE a Pastor teaching a whole sermon on eternal judgment! Yes I heard many times they would MENTION IT while preaching some other topic but NEVER as the whole sermon.

The only time I heard the whole message taught was when I myself taught it when I still believed in eternal life of torture! Yes I read books about it but as far as it being taught verse by verse neither in Trinity Churches or in Oneness Churches to this day.

The Church I now attend mentions it once in a while referring to it as "the bad place". No teaching on it at all.

Sorry to hear that. Paul wasted no time reasoning of righteousness, temperance and judgment to come at the onset of his preaching the gospel.

Thankfully, I rubbed shoulders with some wonderful men of God who preached on eternal judgment, on those rarer occasions when the entire church could feel the witness of it across the board. Even more thankfully, that was NOT the norm used to win souls. Sinners responded far more to the simple convicting power of the gospel of redemption and eternal life.

Nice discussion. Glad we don't use this as the de facto evangelistic tool.

I believe in degrees of punishment. Some will be tormented a long time. Others maybe poof! If to Jonah the Prophet 3 days was FOREVER there can be a lot of variance. God knows how to sentence each individual according to their works doesn't he?

One day with him is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. If one burned in fire for one day Jesus might count it as a thousand years.

Point being that ALL the wicked including the devil himself will be annihilated/destroyed at the end of their suffering.

Again, degrees of punishment, variances of what "forever" means, sentences according to works, God's view of duration, etc., can at the least establish equity in reward, but definitely not annihilation.

So did the men of God you refer to teach by scripture the entire sermon? Or was it like I heard. While preaching about holiness they would throw Hell in there for a few minutes and then back to the topic?

Why should we be thankful people are not hearing about the wrath of God to come? It seems to be in scripture a lot. In my opinion no one can be saved unless they understand they will be cast into Hell for their sins.

How would they know what they are being saved from?

Why didnt Paul mention burning eternally in Hell? Why didn't Peter?

Does Paul mention Hades? If so who did he say was there?

Do you know what Gehenna was? The Gehenna Jesus spoke of? Do you know it was a literal place outside Jerusalem? If you understand this you will get why Gehenna, Hell-fire is the end of the line for what goes into it.
