Everything that happens in the church is MINISTRY and the tithing should be used to support that - the pastor and other persons on staff that get paid, should get paid a fair wage and one that will support him and his family so he can work for the church 100% of the time....If a man who pastors isnt a good steward with the church funds or a man people respect and will follow, well, the issue isnt tithing. But if you choose to stay in that congregation, you are obligated to pay your tithes. It's between him and God if he mishandles the church funds. But I'd be looking for another church..

but from what I understand, the IRS requires that ALL funds that come into the church are put into ONE general fund. There are then other accounts that you can transfer to in order to pay bills that fall in another category - such as Foreign Missions, Faith Promise, Administrative and so on.

The church is also supposed to keep the little envelopes on file for I think 7 years...

and I dont feel picked on Sometimes you have to explain posts on here before folks misunderstand and get all huffy

Amen!!!!

But...nowhere in the Bible were there any laws given where the ministry was ever given all of the tithe to keep for themselves.
YEA Verily I would say amen!

Here is waht I see on the division of the tithe.

The tithe was indeed given to the Levites (not the priests) but it was given to them to distribute... not to keep. They were to distribute 10% of the tithe that came in for themselves. They were to then distribute another 10% of the tithe that came in to the priests.

This was their portion (in other words... they weren't given any land. The other tribes were.... the other tribes paid in 10% of their increase on the land.) 10% of that tithe from the increase was for the Levites. 10% of that tithe from the increase was for the priests.

here is the scripture on this...

Quote:
Num 18:25 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Num 18:26 Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, [even] a tenth [part] of the tithe.
When they received the tithe from the people they were to take a heave offering (10% of the tithe) and offer it up for the Lord.

Quote:
Num 18:27 And [this] your heave offering shall be reckoned unto you, as though [it were] the corn of the threshingfloor, and as the fulness of the winepress.
This heave offering (the 10% of the tithe that had been brought in) was to be considered as their very own and reckoned unto the Levites.

Quote:
Num 18:28 Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the LORD of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the LORD'S heave offering to Aaron the priest.
They were to then take another heave offering (another 10% of the tithe) and give it to the priests and the priests were to keep that for themselves just as the Levites had kept the heave offering for themselves.

Quote:
Num 18:29 Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the LORD, of all the best thereof, [even] the hallowed part thereof out of it.
Not only were they to keep 10% of the tithe... but they were to make sure that what they kept was the best 10%
Quote:
Num 18:30 Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the increase of the winepress.
The 10% that they had kept out for themselves was to be counted as their own.

Quote:
Num 18:31 And ye shall eat it in every place, ye and your households: for it [is] your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation.
It was theirs to have and to do with anyway they pleased

Quote:
Num 18:32 And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.
The 10% of the tithe for the Levites, and the 10% of the tithe for the priests was allowed to them to keep and no sin would be counted to them for keeping this amount

I would be happy to learn.

Please demonstrate what you are speaking about and I will certainly weigh it with an open mind and an honest heart.

Looking forward to it.

What I have posted is what I know. I would be foolish to purport that I know it all.

I have heard this said before that the pastors are only to receive 10%.

What say ye pastors?
