Ezekiel's Vision of the Glory

Another thread discussed the sons of God and daughters of men. Some mentioned Ezekiel's vision of the GLORY, with cherubims, wheel within wheel and Christ on the throne.

Here are some thoughts the Lord blessed me with.

Ezekiel's vision of the wheel within a wheel and the cherubims shows many details that have import in other parts of the bible, beginning in the Garden. Ezekiel called it the glory of God at the latter part of chapter 1. That is the picture we are meant to keep in mind later in the same book everytime the glory of God was mentioned. It's a progressive picture all based upon the Garden.

I think the flaming sword and the cherubims in the Garden entrance were together the same thing Ezekiel saw. When we read that Adam heard the voice of God in the Garden, the Hebrew means NOISE. Ezekiel described the thunderous noise of this glory. No wonder Adam hid!

The ark of the covenant was patterned after this glory, and the ark was also called the glory of God when Phinehas and Hophni were slain and one of their wives who gave birth to Ichabod noted the glory (the ark) had departed. As the ark was carried over the heads of the priests, the sapphire "firmament" of the glory Ezekiel saw was over the heads of the cherubim. Like carrying a king in royal procession on his throne. Jesus was on the throne with gold from his loins upward and fire from his loins downward, just as we read in Revelation 1.

Thew cherubim had faces of lion, ox, eagle and man. The faces of the KINGS, so to speak, of the creatures Adam named... beasts, cattle, fowl and mankind. Adam was not said to name the creeping things or the fish, etc. He was specifically said to name the cattle, beasts, fowl and man.

As Adam was cast out of the east end of the Garden, where the Garden's only entrance was, this "glory" leaves the temple's east gate and goes to the eastern mountain. When you look at Jerusalem and the temple, the eastern mountain is the mount of olives. And Jesus actually did this. He left the temple in Matthew 23 and went to the Mount of Olives in Matt 24. THE GLORY LEFT THE TEMPLE as Adam, God's glory (1 Cor 11:7) left the Garden. (The temple was modeled after the Garden).

But Ezekiel saw the GLORY RETURN TO THE EAST GATE! The Garden's east entrance barred by flaming sword and cherubim, so to speak. It's a spiritual picture of mankind returning the prefall KINGDOM state of Adam.

Re: Ezekiel's Vision of the Glory

That glory of God in the Garden was what we see positioned in the entrance to the Garden. The Hebrew actually reads God TABERNACLED cherubim and a flaming sword at the entrance. Just like the Ark was TABERNACLED in Moses' Tabernacle.

The sword between the cherubim is like the WORD OF GOD from between the cherubim over the ark's mercyseat. Hence, Jesus is shown in Revelation as having a sword come from His mouth.

Doesn't John 1:14 say, "And the Word became flesh, and DWELT among us...."

The passage is saying, "And the Word became flesh and TABERNACLED among us...."

Yes, they do. It's just that in the Greek, it holds more expression, much like, the Spanish language. Tabernacled is a very beautiful expression and lends more of a visual than, simply, "dwell", IMO.

Amen! Jesus is the WORD, and the Word is sharper than any twoedged sword.

Good one!
