Function of the Mnistry

Obedience

The function of the Ministry is manifest as a man obeys! Obedience is not a
passive word that causes a believer NOT to testify, NOT to Preach, and NOT
to pray for the sick. Neither is it having to be told to testify, to preach, or to
pray for the sick. Obedience is a conviction in the very most integral part of
the person who is called to do the will of the Lord. Consider Adam, the very
first prophet.

In the beginning there were no sons or daughters, only the angels. Then, on
the sixth day man was created and formed from the dust of the ground, and
God "…blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.”
With this breath of life, the body of dust became alive, and mobile. The soul,
then, is the life of the body. In giving the body life, God at once also gave
man direction: binding him to the earth. God’s Law of Creation in man caused
him to obey!

Man is constrained to do God’s will. Adam was created (Called), formed (bound),
and given the breath of life (direction). With the Law of Creation operating in
him, Adam fulfilled the work that God had directed him to do. God had named
Adam, and God also brought all the animals to Adam to be named by him. The
The same work of God in Adam caused Adam to respond positively: even as
God’s work in us causes us to respond to his will. It is God’s will, in the Church
that causes us to obey!

God created man in his image and in his likeness, and Adam began to walk in the
direction God had pre-ordained: “…created in Christ Jesus unto good works,
which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.”
In Jesus Christ we
see the supreme example of this obedience. It is the same type of obedience
that the Lord demands of the Ministry!

Jesus said, “The son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do;
for what things soever He does, these also does the son likewise.”
Adam was the
first [created] son of God, and by nature did the same things as the Father. Above
all, Adam had the likeness of God in him. It was this that caused Adam to walk
in the direction God prescribed. Should we, the Ministry and the Church,
not walk in the same manner?
