I love spiders. I have a pet tarantula. Stray spiders in the house usually get a free relocation to the outside. (But if they look mean, I squish 'em!)

When we were in Costa Rica last year, we were having youth service at someone's home and there would occasionally be spiders on the walls or floor or couch. Instead of smashing them (like we Americans wanted them to), they would gently scoop them off the wall and toss them out the door. I had never seen anyone do that before. I just wanted them DEAD, especially the one that showed up on the wall right behind me.
