"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Yesterday was a difficult day, Tom suffered a mild heart attack. He perceived it as having chest pains, but didn't realize the severity of it They were able to tell because of monitoring enzymes.

They sent him to the cath lab and placed two stents which opened 85% blockages.

The bright side is that he was in the hospital being monitored and they were able to respond to prevent a future even worse scenario.

On a side note, as we are keeping people informed, the most common question is about time. How long? How long will he be in the hospital. How long will that procedure take? Some things don't fit neatly in known time constraints. Some things are unknown and you have to just keep stepping forward one step at a time.

Being in the hospital and at the mercy of others. Even kind, caring others, is an intimate and humbling experience. Seeing your husband afraid, in pain, and with tears in his eyes is heart breaking.

As our world is falling apart I feel shamed by my helplessness and too numb to pray more than simply asking "Jesus please help us through this"

There are times when you are dependent on the prayers of others.

There are times when you are dependent on the prayers of others.
And it’s times like this that your need for the prayers of others also reminds “others” (i.e., me) that my prayers should be turned outward.

I have had moments where the unsaved have demonstrated Jesus’ empathy and Grace—solidifying the imago dei—and not even know it. God bless them in their work.

And prayers continue.
