I do not miss this sort of thing.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Sit Down and Behave Yourself!
The real "problem" I guess would be that I don't find it desirable...

Re: Sit Down and Behave Yourself!
1) What's not desireable about praising God?
2) Specifically, what's not desireable about the clip I posted?
I literally ache for my current congregation. I ache for GOD to just invade our services, pouring out His Spirit on the believers as well as the church-goers!
Is my ache misplaced?
Is there no value to dancing in the spirit, speaking in tongues in worship and praise, and leaping for joy?

Re: Sit Down and Behave Yourself!
I'd comment about how ridiculously embarrassing this type of behavior is to me.
Entertainment for those in the cheap seats.
I just can not view this and see it as pleasing to God.
It's no wonder the Apostle Paul had to instruct the Corinthians to curtail this type of behavior. Behavior that would cause the unbeliever to think that we are all mad.
But seeing how the leader of this "praise break" is a respected UPC minister of worship
and forum member on AFF, I'll refrain from commenting.

I think most who see it will judge that it looks like hype and the flesh and not a move of the Spirit of God since the worship stops as soon as the organ stops.

Re: Sit Down and Behave Yourself!
I've posted clips from other churches, other services with people dancing by the Holy Spirit, leaping for joy, speaking in tongues in praise and worship and I've encountered similar responses.
What I don't understand is why.
Most of the luke warm or negative responses come from folks I considered to be Oneness Pentecostals on here.
Why would a Oneness Pentecostal have a lukewarm stance towards worship services and altar scenes where there are people leaping and dancing for joy, daincing in the spirit, and speaking in tongues?
Wouldn't the luke warm stance towards the moving of the Holy SPirit in our services be more dangerous than most of the other stuff that seems to be threatening Pentecost today?

Is there something wrong with praising and worshiping the Lord simply because you want to-- not necessarily because you felt the Lord take control of your feet?
