Re: Sabbath and bible feasts

Romans 2:1-15
1......Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

Paul is not forbidding discernment and acknowledgement of sin. He is calling out hypocrisy of people who judge others while having sin in their own life. (Presumably religious Jews)

2......But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.

Gods judgement is righteous

3......And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

Often people can see the sin in others lives, but never acknowledge their own sins. We all will be judged of God.

4......Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

Paul is addressing the rejection of Gods call to repentance.

5......But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

Because of hardness (stubbornness and lack of conviction) and impenitent heart (unrepentant), the time will come when Gods righteous judgement will be executed upon them.

6......Who will render to every man according to his deeds:

All will be Judged for their deeds

7......To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

Jesus sheep seek eternal life by continually doing right

8......But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

The goats are those who are stubborn and resist the truth. They are unrighteous. Indignation and wrath are synonymous, it is part of the character of the accused.

9......Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

Jews and Gentiles both, will receive Punishment to all that do evil

10......But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

Jews and Gentiles both, will receive Reward to those that do good.

11......For there is no respect of persons with God.

God will not hold any to a different standard, no matter a persons pedigree. (common among religious Jews)

12......For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;

Sinners will be punished, both gentles without law, and the Jews with law.

13......(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

We are justified for our obedience to Gods law and not simply possession of the knowledge of it.

14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another

Some gentiles where being commended for keeping the law, but they did it without the written law that the privileged Jews had.

Question: How could Gentiles who had not the law of the sabbath be commended for keeping the law? Is Paul saying that the gentiles where observing the seventh day every Saturday instinctively and by nature? Probably Not!!! I think the law Paul is speaking of, written in their hearts, didn’t consist of observing a special day of the week. (Differing from Mosaic law that people keep insisting on observing)

Re: Sabbath and bible feasts

Romans 2:16-29
16......In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

God will judge the things that are beneath the surface. The gospel of Jesus Christ is what we will be accountable for.

Is there one place in Paul’s gospel that includes gentiles observing the Ten Commandments?

17......Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,

Jews where self righteous because of their advantages of having been passed down the law. Restest in the law- they had false security in their traditions.

18......And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;

There where advantages to having the law. The gospel of Jesus was the fulfillment of the law, therefore the Jews comprehension of the gospel should have more depth of understsnding.

19......And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
20......An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.

Some obviously felt they where qualified to be teachers and instruct others.
(Presumably the Jews who where trying to enforce their customs rather than the weightier matters.)

21......Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
22......Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
23......Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?

Some of these Jews. Where reprimanded for their hypocrisy. It was more than just sin, but it was an offense to God.

24......For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

The Jews brought reproach to God. Their self righteous, yet hypocritical lives, turned Gentiles away from God.

25......For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.

Jews where good at keeping the traditions and ceremonial ordinances of the law, but missed the weightier matters of the righteousness God desired of them.

26......Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?

Righteousness is at the core of all the law. If the righteousness at the core of the law was kept, then gentiles without any written law would be the people of Gods covenant.

27......And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?

Judge who is the transgressor, a gentile who has kept the righteous core of the law, fulfilling the purpose of the law, or a Jew who is keeping traditions and customs, but transgresses that righteous purpose behind the law.

28......For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
29......But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

The people of God have the righteousness of God in their hearts. The people of God are not His people because of external traditions, but are His people because they have accepted Him into their hearts. Who serve for God and not to be shown of men.

Is there one place in Paul's gospel that includes not taking the Lord's name in vain? Or not cross dressing? Or not practicing bestiality?

1 John 3:22-24
22......And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23......And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
24......And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

These are commandments written upon our hearts. If you have these there is no written laws necessary.

Was not the context of using the Lordís name in vain referring to the name Yahweh? How many people do you know in western culture even refer to Yahweh? At the same time how can a believer in Jesus name going to dishonor that name. I donít see your reasoning here.

Ephesians 4:29-30
29......Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30......And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

If profaning the name of Jesus is not corrupt than nothing is.

Also fornication (porneia) is forbidden or rebuked at least 25times from Acts to The book of Revelation. Fornication means all sexual immorality which includes Beastiality. There is a Biblical solution given for this problem.

1 Corinthians 7:2-3
2......Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
3......Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

We are to get married to one person and have intimacy.

So, the Third Commandment and the prohibition against bestiality are not actually stated, just assumed to be included in other instructions? Then by the same token, the Fourth Commandment can be assumed as included in other instructions.

I notice you forgot about the cross-dressing prohibition. Under what NT command does that get shoe-horned?

Beastiality is fornication. God created Intercourse to be between a husband and wife only. Is it really necessary to convince a Holy Spirit filled child of God that fornication is sin? I am not saying Christians cannot fall into sexual immorality, but we will know it is wrong.

I didn’t forget about the cross dressing prohibition. You brought it up in an earlier post and I have already addressed it. There are many NT scriptures that define the role of male and females in the NT church. People who have gender dysphoria need to be delivered, because they are literally in sin bondage. If they are filled with the Holy Ghost you won’t have any trouble convincing them that it is wrong to go in drag.

if you are talking about the pants vs. skirts issue, that is conjectural and I personally feel there is some liberty. We have made pants a major issue in the Pentecostal church, but we have failed in keeping biblical teachings for men and women. Modern feminism is just as vibrant amongst Pentecostals, but has been adapted to be done while wearing a skirt. Cultures differ on gender distinctions and I personally believe those things will work themselves out by teaching and the Holy Ghost. We don’t have to return back to the law to be righteous.

Re: Sabbath and bible feasts

The fourth commandment is fulfilled by entering his rest according to NT teaching.

Hebrews 4:8-10
For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken of another day later on. So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.

Entering into God’s rest is our observance to Sabbath.
