This is one of the camera's used to film Star Wars Episode II. I am sure they are MUCH cheaper now.

There are a lot of inexpensive digital editing programs for home use. However only in the last year have some of htem been upgraded to handle the new AVCHD format that records to SD or CF cards.
For around $100 you can get Sony Vegas Movie Studio or two or three other major players who all have good programs. You might want to google around and find reviews of the latest versions of each.
The last few years computers with Microsoft XP or Vista have built in basic video editing programs also that might work. For digital your computer would need to have a firewire port (a few might require a USB2 port instead I believe)

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Considering Buying A Video Camera
Well, I bought my Video Camera it is this baby featured here a Panasonic SDR-7.
I got it at a great deal!
Thanks for all your input!
I will try it out tomorrow at the kids schools sports days.
One drawback is the battery.
It has a lifespan of about an hour on steady use, but stopping starting, pausing, zooming all drains the battery making it a 40 minute battery.

Re: Considering Buying A Video Camera
Get a Hard Disk Drive camera with high definition.
DV is the best video quality, but they are getting so good with Hard Disk now that I cannot tell the difference. And with Hard Disk, you do not run out of tapes! You can record for dozens of hours! And it is in digital format ready to upload to your computer.
DO NOT GET JVC, though. They are the worst hard disk cams on the market. Whew. I got SONY and love it.
I bought an extra battery and it lasts up to 10 hours.
It has a ONE TOUCH dvd record deal. You hook it up to the computer by its "shoe" into which it fits, and after the software is installed, one touch of a button will burn a dvd on your dvd burner. Even makes MENUS!

If you plan to use it for higher-end productions, I'd still recommend DV tape which records in a more lossless format - but requires capturing through Firewire to a computer.
What I don't like are dvd cameras. Highly compressed and small capacity.

Or a capture device that uses USB...BTW doesn't it also take longer to get the video from tape to your PC?

I have a Sony too...one thing I hate about it though is that "shoe"...if you lose it or it breaks...good luck. I always have extra cables around.
Another drawback on my model is no light

I also had no light in mine, but I bought one for it, and it still does not do the trick very well.
i also got a bluetooth wireless mic for it. Awesome. And it already has night vision, but they sell a night vision enhancer that really opens it up for dark viewing.
