The Charismatic-Apostolic Relationship

Do the two co-exist? Are a lot of Apostolic churches today taken the Charismatic route?

What is the future of the Apostolic church if Charismatics prevail?

Allot of mainline/classic Trinitarian Pentecostals reject the title "Charismatic" FYI. Apostolics seem to be lacking in understanding as to what exactly constitutes the "Charismatic Movement."

Loose living, tongue talking. Thats the official rule for a charismatic lifestyle.

That’s not what charismatic is.

Re: The Charismatic-Apostolic Relationship

Traditional Charismatics were already apart of established denominations. They merely took on a more charismatic identity to what they already believed. They may or may not have changed their church attendance, but took into their own beliefs a belief in the infilling of the Holy Ghost. The infilling of the Holy Ghost could be evidenced by a variety of spiritual gifts, not just speaking in tongues, which differentiated them from classical Pentecostals. Charismatics also didn't hold to many doctrines on separation that classical Pentecostals had held for decades. Many of these Charismatics might've called themselves "Charismatic Baptist", "Charismatic Catholic", etc., depending on where their membership was held.

It seems today that a lot of Charismatics are non-denominational. They're basically a body of Christians that believe in the validity of the spiritual gifts, but their doctrines can sometimes be vastly different.

There's two things I've found within many Apostolic churches:

1) Any Jesus Name church that has backslid on their convictions, stances on separation, and modesty have 'gone charismatic' and left the old paths. They still claim some form of Holy Ghost power, but have walked away from doctrines they once taught.

2) Any body of Christians that dress modestly and speak in tongues are automatically 'Holiness Baptist' by default.

Re: The Charismatic-Apostolic Relationship

When I think of someone being charismatic I generally think of that individual being caught up in prosperity teachings and have little to no convictions when it comes to their personal life and conduct. The believe in the spiritual gifts and might even have a 'prayer language' that they can pray in at the drop of a hat.
