I disagree with the Grand Jury. Eric was murdered by a cop over stinking cigarettes. I hope his relatives sue the cop, NYPD and NYC.

I don't care if the choke hold didn't kill him. The choke hold was the trigger which set his death into motion.

That cop should be fired and serving time in prison.

It wasn't a choke hold.

The man resisted police. Tell me what should they have done?

Cigarettes? The Police don't make the laws. They get sent out and told to enforce it

BTW can someone tell me why the other officers who were on the man's back and pressing down were not also charged? How come nobody wants to lynch them or the black female supervisor who supervised it all?

"
The preliminary autopsy findings could be welcome news for Police Officer Daniel Pantaleo, now named as the cop who wrapped his arm around Eric Garner’s throat while trying to ..arrest him.

“If you’re the defense counsel in this case, this is very good news, because it’s consistent with what appears to be the case — that they didn’t mean to hurt him,” said John Jay College of Criminal Justice Professor Eugene O’Donnell.

But a source close to the Medical Examiner’s investigation said coroners are also investigating whether the chokehold still contributed to Garner’s death by aggravating his pre-existing conditions of obesity, asthma and possible heart disease. He died of cardiac arrest in the ambulance on the way to the hospital."

These cops have no reason to know about preexisting conditions when they try to subdue someone by whatever means. A tazer could have killed him and everyone would be second guessing using those

You're kidding, right? There is no way you can look at the video and claim it wasn't a choke hold. It was an obvious hold. And then, a cop pushes down on his head and neck while Garner is pleading and saying, "I can breathe," over and over and over.

It wasn't premeditated murder, but this was absolutely negligent homicide.

Again, I hope this cop gets fired. His actions directly led to the death of a man. Odds are, this cop has used excessive force before and, if allowed, he'll do it again.

No. Not kidding. It was a take down move. I've done things like that when wrestling with friends as a kid. A Chokehold..what was outlawed by the police, is a move to actually CHOKE someone. The is a difference between taking someone down from behind (getting leverege) and choking someone's wind pipe.

Now maybe its possible as this man rolls over that it turned into one but Read that nypost article. There was no damage.

Also being ignored...he died because his preexisting condition and chest compression...he did not have a problem breathing until AFTER they rolled him over.

I ask again how do they subdue and cuff a man that is resisting???? Hello?

Re: Saddened by NY Grand Jury Decision To NOT Indi

Here is my perspective. I work in the Mental Health sector. If an individual becomes aggressive to the point where he or she must be "restrained" there are signs we are trained to watch for.

If an individual says "I cant breathe" we MUST release them. Period. One might say its a different situation. Not true. Some of the people we deal with have long histories of violent assault. We at times are concerned for our lives our the lives of others.

And YET according to the DOJ if we do not comply with their regulations WE can be charged with abuse.

Why are the cops not held to at least the same standard? I mean if their situation gets bad at least they have tasers and pistols. We have nothing except a few restraining holds and being allowed to "block".

If we do one of the "restraints" wrong we can be fired if not hauled off to jail when in reality we are defending our lives or the lives of others or even the life of the individual.

Now I dont want to make it to strict on the cops but we might wonder why our lives (in this occupation) are of so much less value than them?

Tasers have killed people AND are unreliable. They don't shoot far, are inaccurate, only work if both darts penetrate clothes and stick. Even then I've seen video of a man being taxed a few times and was not affected other than it REALLY made him angry.

Guns kill. No matter what happens the police will be second guessed
