Lake of the Ozarks Shootout

The past couple days I have been enjoying the trial runs for the shootout.
On one particular rooftop I am sure I had the best seat in the "house"!

The Lake of the Ozarks Shootout is the largest unsanctioned boat race in the United States and has been listed by Powerboat Magazine as one of the 8 “must see” boating events. With speeds reaching 209 MPH on a 1 mile drag, boats come from across the United States, Canada, and Peru for the honor of “Top Gun”. Last year over 45,000 spectators watched the event as Dave Callan and John Cosker from Callan Marine hit 209 MPH.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Lake of the Ozarks Shootout

So, how much did we miss?

http://www.ky3.com/news/local/27435169.html

a few clippings here:

Lake Ozark admits it sent raw sewage into Lake of the Ozarks

..... discharge of 10,000 to 15,000 gallons of raw sewage into the Lake of the Ozarks. DNR staff noted that the sewage caused a dark plume in the water at the lake.

A sample analysis of water collected from the Lake of the Ozarks showed extremely elevated levels for ammonia nitrogen and fecal coliform exceeding the criteria for whole body contact recreation.

Did the water seem alittle murky from the rooftop Hoove?

LOL! Funny. The DNR is always finding violations... but i don't think our lake is exceptional in that. My BIL owns I guess the largest excavation company at the lake and they keep threatening him with $25,000 per day fines... on noncompliant systems.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks Shootout

Trust me, these boats don't care if there is sewage in the water!
