How many baptisms

I saw these two scriptures and was wondering how many baptisms are there

Ephesians 4
1I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

2With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

3Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

5One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

AND

Hebrews 6
1Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

2Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment

Now the first seems singular and the second plural why?

Re: How many baptisms

Both are correct. The doctrine of baptisms means water baptism and baptism of the Holyghost. There is only one doctrine and it is of Christ. We are buried with Him in baptism. a doctrine can be singular and have 2 or more components.

Re: How many baptisms

There are several baptisms:
baptism in water
baptism in the Holy Spirit
baptism in fire
baptism in suffering

Re: How many baptisms

For the Hebrews there are a number of different kinds and types of water baptisms, but there is only one baptism in the Holy Spirit. Also, there is a difference between being baptized (immersed) into the Holy Ghost (living in the Spirit) and the infilling of that Spirit (the Spirit being immersed - living - in you). Compare John 20:22 with Acts 2:3-4)

Acts 2:4, to be filled: G4130, see:

Re: How many baptisms

There is one baptism , just as the scripture says and that baptism is into Jesus Christ .

Acts 2:38 is that one baptism

Repent - change carnal self mind for mind of Christ
Be immersed into the name - happens when we repent
Because your sins are forgiven - this only happens to a believer immersed into Christ
Recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost - this is the change of spirit that happens when we trade our way for His way which takes place at repentance .

Notice Acts 2:39 is " the promise " as in one promise which is the one baptism which is the baptism into Christ !
