About fasting and war fare!!
Has any one experiensed a satanic battle during a fast? Every time I have ever fasted I have been attacked and I was wondering if I was the only one.Ome time I experienced a deep depression for several days until I figured out what was happening, then I rebuked it in Jesus name and as soon as I did I felt a calm, but then the next day the depression would start again and the battle would rage on every day. Then one time I was laying down and I did not go to sleep because I could hear my family in the other room but I could not move and something scratched my face,I could only think the name Jesus before I could move and I went to look in the mirror because where I was scratched at was burning but there was no scrach marks.I just wonder if any one has had these kind of battles during a fast?

Re: About fasting and war fare!!
Fasting disciplines the flesh and many times allows us to become more sensitive to the spirit. However, being a child of God I wouldn't think that we would be involved in spiritual warfare. In fact, this seems almost borderline mystical. God fights our battles and we should depend on his strength and not our own. I came from a church where people were always looking for the mystical and prophesies and all sorts of stuff instead of following after Christ.
My pastor has had some amazing experiences where God has shown him things and done a work in his life and ministry but our church does not go about searching for these things. If God wants to move in our life he will and we should not find glory in the mystical.
Personally, I had a dream a few months ago that I knew was from God and through that dream God worked a tremendous healing in my life. God healed a part of me that I didn't even realize needed healing.
That being said I have been warned by wise men that the religious practice of fasting can become fleshly if we are doing it for the wrong reasons. Fasting is for discipline and coming closer to God not to be delving into the spiritual realm. Jesus said to love God and love our neighbor as ourself. Keep this commandment, the greatest, in mind when you are fasting and let all your actions and motives be kept in check by this commandment.

Re: About fasting and war fare!!
Fasting is essential for spiritual warfare. It is only dangerous if you fast outside the realm of righteousness. If you are fasting but have unrepented sin in your life, sin that you don't desire to repent of, then you will entertain another spirit.
I have never know any successful man of God who did not fast. It is essential for victory.

Everyone is different. Some folks are more senstive to the spirit realm than others. What happened to you doesn't have to happen just because you were fasting.
Although, you don't want to go around seeing a devil behind every bush, neither do you want to stick your head in the sand and deny that spirits do attack chrisitans.
If you have been doing spiritual warfare type praying, then you could have opened that door for attack. The good news is God has given you the power to overcome these attacks and you do not need to have a spirit of fear. The enemy will feed on fear.

I have never heard of fasting with sin in your life causing you to entertain spirits. Many fast to help them overcome sin in their life without entertaining spirits.
Folks that have sin in their life that they don't want to repent of usually don't desire to fast.
But I agree 100% with your second sentence. Fasting is essential to have power in your walk with God.

Re: About fasting and war fare!!
I have faced some of the hardest battles while fasting. Once I was battling spirits so badly I went to my brother (pastor) in a panic and asked what I was doing wrong?? I was facing things in the flesh that I thought was somewhat conquered long ago. We discussed fasting…and he explained that weakness of the flesh does leave you open to spirits… good and bad. So… it is very important to pray often with the fasting. That I believe is the key… and I have stopped a fast before because I felt I was worse off with attitudes and I was not accomplishing much, mainly because I was working and had other situations that was keeping me from being focused with prayer while fasting.
The times that I feel I was led into fasting by the Spirit… I have not struggled and spent most of the fast feeling as I was just surrounded with the presence of God.

Re: About fasting and war fare!!
If you go on an extended fast you need to make sure your pastor knows so he can cover you in prayer.
Staying in the Word while fasting will help as well, and as FB said, PRAY.

We are in spiritual warfare...
2 Cor 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4( For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

You are right... reading the Word is important too.
I know that my brother also said that in walking with God, we think we have conquered things of the flesh, but in fasting, we can also be shown hidden things in our hearts or bring to surface things that we need to deal with. Reading the Word while fasting can make you more sensitive to understanding as you are reading.
I know that when I am studying and not understanding some things, I will pray, dedicate a fast for a time of studying and things will become more clear as I study.
