Is it ok for a UPC preacher to call Obama a moron?
(re-post)
I gotta tell you folks, I was at what I thought would be a refreshing conference this weekend, only to get there and hear a guy who if I mentioned his name EVERYONE would know him, get up behind the pulpit, admit he was exhausted and unprepared, proceed to preach some good anecdotes...and then some extremely bad stuff. The good stuff was inspiring, challenging and pretty much the stuff I have come to appreciate about this guy. Then...
He goes off the reservation and starts talking politics and society. He stands tall and flat out called Barak Obama an "moron" and that those who voted for him are with the "(*Edited) loving, (*Edited) promoting, abortion, moron..." crowd and that (those who voted for him) would be called into question at the judgment. He didn't say it once, he screamed it twice just in case some folks didn't hear it.
Not only was I shocked at what he said, I was even more shocked at the peolple standing on their pews pumping their fist screaming.
I was ashamed and embarassed and wondered what CNN would/could do with the DVD if they got their hands on it.
THEN, the organizer got up and tried to save the day with his diatribe how the UPC is getting smaller because of all the people leaving over standards, how those churches lost their glory when the women cut their hair off and the UPS and McDonalds uniform
Did someone say reform?
Man am I glad that stuff is in my rear view mirror...

I don't think a pastor should talk negatively about the government I think there is something in scripture regarding this. My pastor has mentioned this before plus it is not good to mix politics.with religion in my opinion..

A friend of mine, former UPCer and CLC grad made the comment on facebook that...if we are going to be judged as drastically as (this minister) said then we wouldn't be able to vote in any election.

Obviously this preacher is an idiot and can't decipher politics for doctrine. You don't preach politics behind a pulpit. This guy is also probably a racist.
There are many so-called men of God that are racist...especially some of those wannabe conservative pastors that oppose interracial marriage

The only preacher I've heard use the word "*Edited by admin*" was Jeff Arnold ... and he's no idiot, nor is he racist.
Could you explain why you believe someone must be a racist for simply calling the president a moron. I agree that the president is a moron, and I'm no racist. I would't get behind a pulpit and say that ... but if you were to ask my personal opinion of the presidency of BHO, it would be a scathing review ... and none of it related to race.
Why is it with this guy that anytime anyone disagrees with him, it's automatically racism? A Senator shouts at him, racism! Someone disagrees with his healthcare plans, racism!
It's ridiculous.

P.S. I voted for Obama *edited by admin.
2 things....first of all you critisize Men of God for calling names....by calling them names...i.e. racist, idiot....
Then you admit to voting for Obama....who anybody with any sense knows stands against everything we stand for...
Re: Is it ok for a UPC preacher to call Obama a mo
I believe Obama is a elites leftest liberal moron..... But would NEVER use those words if I was behind a pulpit. I would go out of my way not to bring government into the message -the furthest I would go would probably be to only use the word "government" without naming any names. And then to say how we needed to "pray for those in government" to do the right thing.
