I received this email from a friend this morning:
"Baby ________'s mom's bible study is discussing other religions. Stephanie is Catholic. She drew the religion Pentecost. She asked if I was.
She would like me to go over her notes or come and say something to the ladies (12) on Tuesday. Yikes... I am nervous.
Do you have any words of wisdom?
"IF" I do say something, you know I will get tongue tied. I would mention baptism with immersion and holy ghost in tongues and scriptures and our worship is expressive (charismatic), etc. and some pent. are oneness and that is me, etc.
What would be a good short sweet "outline" for me?"
Any ideas? What would you cover?

She needs to ask God for direction. We don't know the hearers present and only God would be able to direct her to the very words she needs to say that day.
When I speak to the ladies at church, I never look for a topic. This is my prayer, "Lord, you know I need to speak. You know what they need to hear. I pray that you would direct me in your Word that they may be blessed and strengthened by your words. I want them to have confidence that you hear them when they pray and that you answer their prayers."
Always happens. Never fails. God is awesome. I remember Sister Freeman saying that many times God didn't give her a message until she was behind the pulpit! That's some pressure! At least He gives me what I need to say the day before. Sometimes that morning, but never at the last minute. Thank you, Jesus!!! lol

If it's a mom's bible study, is it oriented to parenting? If so, ask your daughters how they would explain church or what they believe to someone... maybe even have them come and offer some insight. If not, I'd go from the angle that there are many people who call themselves Pentecostal, all having one common experience, the Holy Ghost in operation today, and go on to give your testimony and describe a service... Maybe make a CD with some sound bytes of preaching and Pentecostal music on them so that you can talk for a few minutes and then play a recording, then talk a bit more or something (to keep from being tongue tied). Also, try talking with some kind of worship music in the background... it can really help you focus better on what you are saying rather than the group, if you get nervous talking to a group.

Pun intended??
My only caveat would be to avoid the history of Pentecost if possible. Also, if she belongs to one of the brand name churches, "salvational standards of membership" should be mentioned along with the other tenets of faith, since it would be the honest thing to do.
If she's not feeling ethical though, focusing on common ground may be the best route.
