TV Conspiracy?<<<
I was a child of the seventies and eighties, and remember all of the scary prophecy films that my pastor, and traveling evangelists, used to show at church. Some of them were worse than any horror show Hollywood produced.
Anyhoosen, one of the common themes of "end time" shows was that in the future people would be watched through their TV as they watched it, which leads me to wonder if that is even possible.
Was this just a conspiracy theory created to keep people away from TV, or is there an element of truth to it?

In the future, TV and the internet will be so entwined that each TV could have a built-in camera like laptops do now. I guess it would be possible to spy on someone at that point! Who know? It's not possible at this present time.

O.R.P. Organized Religious Propaganda. Too bad we don't have a regulatory agency requiring ministers to be forthcoming with how much truth their doctrines actually contain, kinda like Tropicana...contains 12% juice. "Disclaimer, this sermon actually contains 10% truth..."
If only we could manufacture some of those sunglasses Roddy used to have. Give them to our less than enlightened church friends and watch them walk into to some of these legalistic Pentecostal churches...

Re: TV Conspiracy?<<<
Well, the thing about it WE must teach our people Christian principles and build from there. (I am not promoting anything) however it does no good to say don't have this or that and not teach christian basic's. It is like the preacher I know that took away (may the person willingly gave it) a cell phone to help the person not sin....lol...
Since my posts are often read by UC's and someway they read into my posts...Please understand I am not promoting Hollywood or anything like that but I will tell you right now we as leaders may try to control the SHELL of our people but if we do not teach them biblical principles they can walk around all day looking like a Muslim or nun while the heart is evil and full of darkness...
Scare tatics will not work on everybody...some may be brainwashed however I think the real mission of the church is to make disciples...teach them what choices involve and conquences of bad choices...and things like this. I am not saying to drop anything but maybe we should ADD to some things and include the heart....

Future TV's may have this possibility since, like was already mentioned, they are essentially PC's with their own storage, net connection, and very probably web cams.
As far as government/Hollywood/total strangers being able to watch you through your old tube based analog TV's, that is a total lie and fabrication. It is NOT possible. Aliens a million years more advanced then us could not make it work. And yes, I heard scare-monger evangelists harp on that very thing during the 80's.

I remember being told the TVs that self adjusted to changing light conditions in the room were able to do so because they had a lens that sensed the light. The implication was that "in the future" the TV could be set up to "watch you!"
Instead, "the future" simply did away with the TV tube altogether. Modern plasma and LED televisions simply could not be fitted with such a feature within the tube, because there is no tube.
There was that school district in PA that had software installed in the school issued laptops that allowed school officials to turn on the web cam remotely - http://content.usatoday.com/communit...-on-students/1
Those were Apple Mac products which are notorious for hiding control features from the end user.
