What Do you guys think of this?
The other day I brought a young black man to my house. I picked him up to go to a concert in another city. I had to go home and change first so rather than make him wait outside I invited him in and introduced him to my land lord.
My landlord is an older gentleman but has never been one to be worried about someone breaking into the house. When I was bout to leave I just felt the tension in the air. His son later told me that the gentleman I invited over said sometime to the effect of "you have a lot of money".
The next day my landlord put a dead bolt on his bedroom door. This kinda disturbs me.

Which part disturbs you? That he put a deadbolt on his door, or the comment the young man made?

Well I thought the comment was probably tasteless, but not enough to suspect the guy is gonna come and rob him. One of my landlord's sons is always commenting about how "rich" I am and my "nice car"....it's a 2002 car and Im not rich, but compared to him, being out of work for a couple years, no car etc etc, I guess I am rich.
But it also bothers me my landlord suspects that this guy is gonna come back and rob him

I think elderly people have that fear anyway. And if someone makes a comment like that, it just heightens it.

I had a black woman on my Facebook tell me the first thing I need to admit that Jesus was a black guy.
I asked her what happen to Jesus between the ascension and Revelation because he had white hear and a white head. After reading her response, you would have thought I took the baton to Rodney King.
She said, I just had to trust her that I needed to accept that fact. Black racists are just as bad as white racists. I would love to put them in the octagon and watch fight each other.

Did he feel uncomfortable because of the comment or the color?
His response hurt no one.

Just an observation (no offense meant) but you are the one that mentioned your guest was black. Did the landlord bring it up? Maybe the fact that anyone made a comment about his things made him nervous.

I believe it was a point of reference for the reader and not a slander against a race of people.

Im not sure why. He didn't say anything to me. I've brought other people over before and there was never a problem. Do you think a comment like that would normally cause someone to be that concerned?
