First By Inflation
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."
Thomas Jefferson,
Letter 1802 to Secretary of the Treasury, Albert Gallatin

Re: First By Inflation
Jefferson also never heard of derivatives, tranches, mezzanine financing, CDO's Credit default swaps and a host of other products.
The dollar has been dropping for a few months. I was at the Maria Isabelle Mexico City in 1978 when the ESF was detached from a fixed gold standard.

Talk about magic, the FED creates money out of thin air then loans it to the Gov't with interest. I've read that this debt must be paid only with gold.
I've also read that there is no gold in Ft. Knox. Just might be true.

Yep. It's downright sickening.

Re: First By Inflation
People think inflation just "happens" but it doesn't!

Re: First By Inflation
Actually, we're almost to the point where we're in a deflationary spiral. The Federal Reserve has acted so aggressively to curb inflation that it's choking the life out of the economy. In their minds, nobody wants to go back to the inflationary spiral of the 70s and early 80s.
I think we in the USA would be better off if we made more of the stuff we consumed here instead of importing it from all over. I know there are days when I wonder what I'm really producing at my job.
