The original burkha babes!!!!

Remember the other day, we were talking about Burkha Babes and I said I wish I still had it?? I was looking through some stuff and here it is!! The original had a neater emoticon, but I don't see that one here, so I used this one instead! Enjoy!!

Burkha babes, burkha babes. Woo woo woo.
What we wear, you can't see through.
We are covered up from head to toe
No man can walk past us and say, "Whoa".

Burkha babes, burkha babes, what do you know?
Never in our lives do our elbows show.
Not our chins nor our ankles, not our earlobes or tummy,
No strange man will with us get chummy.

Burkha babes, burkha babes we see through a veil,
Lest our eyes snare a man, so helpless and pale.
Those men are so weak, so easily drawn,
In our fingers, their like helpless pawns.

Burkha babes, burkha babes , Woo woo woo
What we wear, you can't see through.
We are the holiest of the them all,
Never a man by us will fall.

Burkha babes, burkha babes, burkha, burkha, burkha
Burkha babes, burkha babes, never would we hurt ya.
Burkha babes, burkha babes, we make sure men don't fall,
By our massive coverings, freedom for us all.

Burkha, Burkha, Burkha, Burkha, Yeah!

Re: The original burkha babes!!!!

Someone posted the old Higher-Fire archives and I found this other old poem I wrote:

Tis the Season to be tired,
Fa la la la la la la la la
The house a mess and the kids all wired,
Fa la la la la la la la la,

Shopping, parties, presents, cooking
Fa la la la la la la la la
I'll take a nap when no one's looking
Fa la la la la la la la la

After cookies, choc'late and fudge
Fa la la la la la la la la
We'll be so fat we cannot budge
Fa la la la la la la la la

Eating all the stocking stuffers
Fa la la la la la la la la
Then returning those ugly mufflers
Fa la la la la la la la la

Then when all the chaos is over
Fa la la la la la la la la
The bills come in the mailmans new Rover
Fa la la la la la la la la

One more Christmas season passed
Fa la la la la la la la la
Oh we just had such a blast
Fa la la la la la la la la

Algae,

Thanks for posting the lyrics to Burkha Babes. It brought back a lot of good memories from FCF / NFCF!!!!!

Now that DB is GS of the UPCI I have thought the time might be right to approach him about instituting the official UPC Burkha as required wear for the fellowships ladies.

It would be a muted tan or brown with the UPCI globe logo discreetly in light gold. Of course it is too late to get them made in China for this years GC but this could be the rage next year.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Glad we can share the memories, CC1!

I think the UPC Burkha is an excellent idea. First, a letter-writing campaign to Hazelwood. Electronic, so as many as possible could sign. Then, we could find a few obscure UPC pastors who do not use the internet to take up with the idea and pass the campaign onto those we cannot reach. "Ready to be Me", could be the campaign slogan, with emphasis on the freedom it would bring. Emphasis on not doing away with anyone's individuality by allowing a small color choice for the globe on the logo.

How about "Ready to be the Me you cannot see"?

That might work, but "ready to be me" implies the great freedoms the burkha would bring to women and shows them how their individuality will be enhanced and not taken away. Also, it's shorter. It takes less energy to preach. It's cutesy.

Maybe a vote is in order.

Re: The original burkha babes!!!!

I take it that you are all speaking as if Bro. DKB just finished writing his books on holiness a couple of years ago.

I do not believe that he is as conservative as people think. I read in one of his books a statement indicating that almost all of the standards could be dropped and no division should occur as long as the Acts 2:38 and Oneness messages were preached. I am expecting that more will change under his tenure than many of you imagine.

Are not dancing, swimming, movie theaters, and shorts on men all recent isssues being debated in the UPC?
