I am more thankful for Him being with me right now-- gently reminding me that we need to spend more time together, making clear His love for me in the little and big things He does and does not allow. I am so thankful for His convicting power that somehow encourages righteous living instead guilt-laden condemnation.
I am thankful for the change that He has worked in my mind and in my life.
I don't think I am anywhere near Heaven's gate as far as the end of my life is concerned. Yet, I too, am grateful for that hope.
Still I am more grateful for the here and now.
He is Jehohah-Shammah!
He is the great I AM!
verse from "Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal"
And my soul, though stained with sorrow,
Fading as the light of day,
Passes swiftly o’er those waters,
To the city far away.
Hallelujah, hallelujah,
Hallelujah, praise the Lamb!
Hallelujah, hallelujah,
Glory to the great I AM!
-Alice Parker
We're not in Heaven and thank God it's there and one day, we will be with Him.
Yet I am more thankful that here and now, He is the great I AM!
In my temtpation,
He is my Jehovah-Shammah!
He is my great I AM!
Hallelu Jah Jesus!

Re: Heaven!
In my heart of hearts I have to believe that heaven will not be one eternal UPC song service or alter call. I have to believe that. I have to.

I'm with ya on that one. Even though I'm a UPCI person....I do not believe that we will be the only one up there!

Re: Heaven!
Just curious... what are all of the details that are expected to change about an individual upon entering Heaven? I will list a few that I have heard over the years (no idea which are biblical and which are not):
You will receive a new physical body
There will be no sex (nor any desire for sex)
There possibly would not even be gender (due to the above)
Any temptations which you struggle with now, would no longer be an issue
Somehow, you will be happy, in spite of the people you "left behind" to experience eternal torture
Personality traits might be altered or removed
yet somehow - You will be "known as you were known"
Ages may possibly be altered from how people knew you (for example, a newborn or embryo would hopefully not be expected to experience eternity in that particular state), but at the same time, a lot of your personality (which comes partly from your experiences and environment) would not have been formed yet.
I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones I can think of at the moment.
So if your body is different, and your mind is different, how much is left of what you consider to be your own unique identity... I would say, not much.

I've heard, and it may be located somewhere in the bible too....that when we get to heaven, we will loose all remembrance of our previous life. We won't remember anything. We won't notice the people that didn't make it. When you get to heaven, why would you want to remember this place anyhow...lol
