I was thinking the other day. that we don't hear nearly as much of this type of preaching.

40 years ago it was preached pretty regular that we'd probalby see Jesus return before the end of the year.

There was some of that when I was growing up. Haven't heard much about it since then.

Absolutely. They have hammered away against judgment preaching to the point you are instantly condemned as soon as you mention it. Thats why there is no fear of God any more. The constant barrage of negativity toward it.

Who are "They" Mike, and why?

It shouldn't matter who "Hammers" away at the Truth; the Truth will stand if it is the Truth.

There's no fear of God anymore? This blanket statment is false and is one main reason people are tired of listening to many in the Christian movement. We say things with no clarification. We just throw things out there, expecting everyone to believe what we're saying.

I have debated with many on this Forum who resort to this kind of statement because they are cornered with the Facts and don't know what else to say.

NFS - lol - you used the same language that you said MTD used. To your credit you did say "many" but you used it with the emphasis of "all".

Back on the topic, I have heard and like the statement that says something like, "Live like you think Jesus is coming back any moment. Plan like he won't come back in your lifetime".

many around here teach acquittal atonement with forensic justification so they are ready from the beginning...

it's great to have people serving God out of fear, at least they're serving Him, right? When the fear wears off they return to their vomit. I choose to serve Him out of love. It took over ten yrs to grasp the concept of a God that loved me. Couldn't understand it with all the hell-in-a-handbasket echoing through the recesses of my mind.

I believe there is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun.And there is a final resurrection of the just and the unjust.I don't believe in using scare tatics to get people to make a move to God. The Holy Spirit has to draw and convict a person.
