Christensen, Craig and Deacon Dinner Update

Well the Christensons blew into Memphis tonight........about 9 pm. Renda, my wife and three kids and myself arrived at Firebird's Grill about 8:30 and waited. We were too hungry, my kids were getting restless, (my two-year-old started eating his crayon) so we ordered ahead of Dan and Tiffany's arrival.

We had a great evening talking and hearing cruise tails from Dan and Tiff with few selected photos of the occasion (nice pecs Iam! ). Renda showed us pictures of her son proposing to his girlfriend. He had a friend hide in some bushes taking pictures of the whole ordeal---really cool. My two-year-old was wolfing down his mac and cheese, my daughter was falling asleep over her chicken fingers and my wife had had a long day so she took the kids and went home. Renda, the Christensons and myself stayed and talked a while longer.

I caught a ride home with Dan (he forgot to reserve his room on his card, so consequently at 10:00 pm they had given his room away). We spent the next 30 minutes tracking down an available room elsewhere at about five locations. Finally a room opened up at the Roach Inn (just kidding---it was a Comfort Inn I believe). There is nothign available in Memphis anywhere. Dan got the last room. Tiffany was rebuking Dan in her kind sweet way for being negligent on the reservation. When she walked into the room and saw the 1980's decor, she wanted to go somewhere else, but there was no other choice. For $150 a night you would expect a little more (actually a lot more) but these were desperate moments.

Dan checked the family in and drove me home. We took a tour of our facility and then stood around talking some more. Dano pulled away for the hotel at about 11:45. The family is coming to church in the morning. We have a casual attire service tomorrow with a picnic following. Dan is going to testify in the service (I'd have him preach but we've had four straight weekends with guests and I need to be in the pulpit tomorrow). From what I hear, we may not get to the preaching after Dan gets through with us!

More updates after service tomorrow.

Oh my.

I left Firebirds and got home at 11:00 thinking all was fine until now. I asked Tiff if they needed to call and make sure their room was okay and she said Dan had taken care of it....ooopps. It was the Lord trying to use me and no one recognized it!!!!!!! That'll teach 'em.

Thankfully, you made his reservations in Longview for the wedding or he would have been sleeping on one of your two beautiful sofas!

You go Dan... I noticed you had called me at 8:30 last night... you must have been looking to an experienced and capable traveler to direct you to Firebird's Rocky Mountain Grill... sorry I was busy and did not have my phone handy and it was on vibrate.

Glad it finally worked out..

Tiff, I am so sorry you had to stay in such a place. I probably could have hooked you up with a room at the Farifield Inn right across the street from Firebird's had I known. Don't you dare let Dan forget his failing in providing you with adequate accomodations!

I am just surprised there was no prayer meeting... I thought that was par for the course at Firebird's...

Well, Dan and Tiff bailed out on us this morning and backslid. So.....there are no pictures!

Deacon preached a great sermon about "He Chose Me".....I needed to hear it.

Bill (MOW's brother) was there and enjoyed the service and Deacon's sermon. He feeling 99% sure he'll make the move down to Memphis.

We had a great lunch after church and time of fellowship. I wasn't up to vollyball so I'm home now and Bill is on his way back to Ohio and lord knows where Dan and Tiff are.........
