"Shut them down until they can stop disturbing the neighborhood."

Columbia, SC police department has recently interrupted an Apostolic church service to give them a citation for "creating a public nuissance".

Rehoboth United Assemblies has been at its current location for over 30 years, but the city of Columbia, SC has decided to allow new townhomes to be built on the same street as the church.

What are your thoughts?

This is no different then someone building a home near an airport and then complaining about the planes flying overhead. Now if they were already IN their home and the city then approved/built an airport nearby then they would have a case.

Maybe there were to many of them "drunk" in the spirit??? Nothing worse than a loud drunk.

I agree and good argument.

I also believe that they need to be conscience of the neighborhood after 10:00 pm. That's a no-brainer. If they need more time, then they should start the service earlier.

It's a little different. Who expects noise coming from a church late at night? But everyone knows about noise around airports.

I don't think it's persecution. The church is knowingly violating a city ordinance. It may be time to add some soundproofing.

but if a bunch of muslims wanted to block the whole neighborhood off with horns blowing and bowing in the streets it would be a ok

I think if the church picks decides to fight this they will win.

This would be a attorney's dream.

The city has no standing at all.
