CBC Wants Sheila Jackson Lee for Homeland Sec head

This isn't a joke. The Congressional Black Caucus is recommending that Obama nominate Sheila Jackson Lee to be the next head of Homeland Security. Currently, SJL is the ranking member of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security.

I'm kind of torn on this. On one hand, I think an SJL tenure would set back the DHS a decade at least; on the other hand, she'd be in charge of border security.

Regardless, I thought it would be good to revisit and reminisce SJL memories.

Taking a tour of NASA when one of the first Mars Rovers touched down and was sending video back to mission control, SJL asked, “Is it gonna go to where the astronauts planted the flag?”

I wish I could've been there to see the face of the person she asked that question to. Mars...the Moon...both start with the letter "M," which is close enough, right?

Earlier this year, SJL gave this gem of a quote:

I didn't realize it took until the 113th Congress to FINALLY do something about slavery. But I'm glad she was freed.

In April of this year, when arguing on the floor for increased gun control, SJL said

“Don’t condemn the gangbangers, they’ve got guns that are trafficked — that are not enforced, that are straw purchased and they come into places even that have strong gun laws.”

“Why? Because we don’t have sensible gun legislation.”

My personal favorite is her discussion on borders...which is essential to her role as Secretary of DHS

Speaking about Afghanistan and Iraq before the House in 2010, SJL gave us all a lesson on history...well, history as she understood it to be anyway.

One thing about it, they will always know where she is..... "in front of the camera, or at the end of the isle so the camera will have to pick her up, with her bright red clothing!"

Obama is always looking for another diversion so he might appoint her to take some of the pressure off him.

She makes me want to be from some place other than Texas.

To be fair to Obama, this isn't his suggestion. This is the Congressional Black Caucus' suggestion. I honestly doubt he would nominate Sheila Jackson Lee for that position. Then again, it's Obama, and she's a black woman...ie female and minority.

She is everything that is wrong with most blacks. He black person why do you gangbang and shoot people? O its not my fault. Its the person who sold me the illegal guns fault. He black person why do you sell drungs? Its not my fault. Its the fault of the white man. On and on and on. No personal responsibility for their actions. If another black person tries to call his community out for blaming white people and asks them to take personal responsibility for their actions they are called an uncle tom. I am sick and tired of being blamed for everything thats wrong with a whole race of people.
