Re: Goodbye Password, Hello SmartCard

Lots of views but no comments.

Maybe I am just getting older but does anybody else besides me feel privacy and freedom going out the window?

Re: Goodbye Password, Hello SmartCard

i watched the vid... it was pretty rough on the language. sorry.

I work for one of the biggest communications companies in the world. Our CEO has publically stated...repeatedly for the last several years:

Everyone carries 3 things with them at all times. Their keys, their wallet, and their cell phone. I want to get rid of two of those.

And yea, passwords are useless. new technology will go toward biometrics. that by itself removes any anonimity from the individual.

Yes, sorry about the language, I agree and should have mentioned it. However, I thought it was worth sharing because of the content about smart cards and the like.

Why is your CEO saying that? All this tracking seems so oppressive to me. I do not understand the go with the flow thoughts of many people. Even after this Snowden thing....people said "Wow, that's wrong!" but are they doing anything different?

I don't have an RFID blocking wallet. I do know we are tracked whenever we have our cell with us.

Re: Goodbye Password, Hello SmartCard

I am listening to our CEO right now.

He just held up his cell phone and said the following:

"I am going to walk out of this meeting over to CVS and get my flu shot. I am going to use this to pay for it"

THere is another leg of this called "cloud".

basically you wont keep any information on your own hardware. your devise will be a dumb terminal and all your information will be stored on some big companies servers.

How much more simple to collect, colate, datamine and keep tabs on people when you dont have to worry about access to the information?

I am sure about 47% of the population thinks this is a GREAT idea.

For sure. I just don't see why people aren't alarmed about this enough to at least demand some kind of safeguards.
