UPCI Reading list?

Those of you who have completed or are completing the UPCI required reading list for licensing (up to and including ordination), what do you like, and dislike, about the UPCI's reading list?

What changes would YOU make to the list, if you were in a position to do so?

What items do you feel are core, essential, necessary, or otherwise VITAL and beneficial?

What items do you feel are elective, perhaps beneficial or a good read but not necessary, essential, or vital?

Also, why is the 'Spanish' list completely different (and cheaper!)?

If you come from an ALJC, COOLJC, PAW, or other apostolic background, please reference your org's required reading list (if any). Also, please provide a list or a link to it, because I couldn't seem to find anybody's except the UPC's...

IF you would prefer to substitute the list with a list of required reading from a seminary undergraduate/graduate program, by all means do so. Same if you wished to add to the list from any required seminary listing.

Sean, control yourself.

Re: UPCI Reading list?

We read so many books every year for 4 years at CLC that the reading list for our license seemed introductory.

The curious thing would be to measure how the list has changed over the years.

What do you think about the licensing list? Any changes you would make to it? Anything in it really stand out to you as a definitely useful and helpful book?

Re: UPCI Reading list?

Be mindful that each district can add to the official list.

From what I've been told, without checking into it myself, where I live in WI, all newly licensed ministers are being required to graduate from Purpose Institute before licensing.

Maybe someone with more firsthand knowledge can fact check that?

Not Scholarly...the reading list are just books that are available to the Laity on PPH...

I have long believed the UPC needs to make available to every minister an "at home" degree level program. Instead of just the "Read books on Oneness doctrine", learn basics of Hermeneutics, Exegetical study, basic Greek, a Survey of the NT or OT and maybe some elective, plus Pastoral/Ministerial ethics etc etc

Since some of us are not UPCI, could you tell us which books are in that list?

Re: UPCI Reading list?

Praxeas has the right idea. A fundamental basic education is a great beginning. Richard Foster wrote "Celebration of Discipline" which is a great book, should be on the list.
