Do you ever wonder...

if you would be happier not knowing so much/being naive again? There is a saying that "There is bliss in ignorance". I am conflicted. Sometimes I know so much that I can't find my joy, and then other times I am happy that I am not naive and ignorant any more.

What are your thought? Or am I the only odd ball out there?

I believe this would vary depending on where you are in life... For me, my eyes have been opened to way more than I would have ever dreamed of... I have been thru many heart wrenching moments of sorrow and many wonderful, beautiful moments of love. The joy I have now, I do not believe I could have ever obtained had I stayed ignorant or naive.

Mickey Mangun used to sing a song..."Long And Winding Road"...I could turn around for the road is still there, but every mountain that I climbed - I again would have to bear...so I really can't turn back...some may be using my tracks...I see one more bend and it just might be this road's end.

I have grown/learned so much that I would never want to go back but sometimes...maybe when I get through this transition I'll have a more positive outlook...it is getting closer.

...it's kinda funny because I can look back and see times when I thought I was really happy but looking back, I see I truly wasn't. On a funny note, I don't think ignorant is all that blissful! I mean, haven't you have seen that one person who "just doesn't get it"? No thankz! lol!

Ecclesiastes 1:18

I think this is why we protect our children from finding certain things out. It's their happiness that adds joy to our lives. We don't want to see their smiles pulled down with the weight that burdens us.

Being naive does make us vulnerable though. That's why our children need us to protect them from things more harmful than knowledge.

Obviously there are some things I would change in my past of I could, but really my past: good and bad has all come together to make me who I am today.. Like Peopye the Sailor Man... "I yam what I yam." And "I yam who I yam." With my life's history, there are certain people that I can reach that nobody else can... All of my life's tests have turned into testimonies...

I heard about a man a long time ago that I have drawn from many times.. A man had just been hired by a Fortune 500 company, and he pushed his way to a meeting with the CEO. He sat in the chair across from "The Man" and asked him, "How did you get to where you are today?" He answered, "By making good decisions." He then asked, "How did you learn to make the good decisions?" He answered, "By making bad ones."

We have all had our experiences and they have propelled us to who and where we are today.. Now we are here by the grace of God knowing what we know, being where we have been, doing what we have done... What are we going to do with it? God knew just where we would be at this very time... Let's let Him love us and use our unique selves.for His Glory..

"Ignorance is bliss" is just a saying, Rhonda...it is not fact.

The fact is, ignorance is bondage.

Just a thought...perhaps you are conflicted because of the tug of war going on for your soul.

I wouldn't trade places between experience and naivete, the true question is, "what is your source of happiness?" With experience I believe we derive pleasure from the simpler things in life; a cup of cofee; a walk in the park; dinner with a loved one. Ignorant people still seek happiness outside of themselves. (I think) what's your opinion?

good topic rhoni, there are many things that i wish i didnt know, and feelings i wish i didnt have because i know, like when you know someone is lying to you and you know you cant say it, because it wont matter, suffice it to say that knowledge has made many of us cynics, i myself included, god bless you, dt
