sar·casm [sahr-kaz-uhm]
–noun
1. harsh or bitter derision or irony.
2. a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark: a review full of sarcasms.
Elijah was pretty sarcastic when he derided the prophets of Baal as they pleaded for their scrifice to be offered.
Sarcasm can be useful in attempting to prove a point in order to help someone to see the truth of a matter. Can be useful, if used constructively. All to often, though, this isn't the case.
