Please Pray for Kenya!!
We are supposed to be going to Kenya again in July 2008. We have not bought our tickets yet, because we are waiting for the cost to go down a little. However, since the presidential election a few days ago, there is major tribal warfare going on between the Kikuku's and the Luo's, with machete killings, shootings, car-burnings, etc. They have closed down travel from Great Brittain to Kenya, unless it's an emergency. I assume the U.S. will do the same, if it hasn't already.
Kenya has been the one peaceful country in that area of Africa until now, and they are talking about Civil War. Our driver is of the Kikuku tribe, and they are being killed randomly, so I know he is probably in hiding. He's such a great man and really loves the Lord. Please pray for his safety; his name is Bernard. The news reports have just made me cry; I love that country so much!

Oh Sherri, I will lift this country up in prayer, I know your heart is hurting for these people. Will pray for God to put a hedge around Bernard and people there in Jesus name, Amen!

Sis. C...I am praying that the hand of the Almighty would hide Bro. Bernard and protect he and his family. May God keep him in His care, and bring peace to the land.
May God bless those who bless His people and strengthen them, in Jesus Name!!

I finally got one email from a pastor in Kakamega, Kenya, and he says there is violence there too, as well as in the town where our headquarters church is. The cyber cafes are shut down, as well as the phone lines, so I'm not sure how he got it to me. He said food is scarce and they are having trouble finding any. There is a curfew enforced and the police are shooting anyone seen out after curfew for any reason.
On the news this morning, it said that at least fifteen bodies were found burned in a church in Eldoret. This is the town that we always stay in during the pastor's conferences; normally a nice peaceful place, other than the typical crimes in Kenya. I cannot imagine this going on there!!!
Our pastor asked me to ask as many people to pray for his country as possible, so I told him I had already put a prayer request on here. Thank you for your concern for this country that most of you have probably never even thought much about before!

Sherri, we continue praying today and tomorrow we are calling a special day of prayer for our people that can to come join at the church and pray for Kenya...
I think of those I met from Rwanda...OH! my we all need to pray folks...No one but those that know how uncertain things can get in these 3rd world countries know how fast war and violence can break out...and churches are often targeted first...
Missionaries can usually get out but that is the home to thousands of believers saints let us join Sherri and Eddi and pray for the believers over thee especially..and Sherri told me there are UPC believers there and probably many more different Apostolic groups and other believers...
IN times like this believers are united ...little differences and even big differences are forgotton...they all pray together.
And dear ones someday it will come upon America the Great...just as it happened long ago to the first christians. This is not the thread to say this but we must learn to love like Jesus loves and care like He cares.

In 1967 I believe it was I saw a film at the Assembly of God church in jacksonville, Arkansas of how the christians of the Congo suffered..and a Brother Tucker was killed in that uprising...christians were tied and covered with honey and hung in the trees and put over large anthills and all kind of sufferings.
The missionary that showed the film said something I will never forget, "during those days christians did not ask each other what church they were from, they just tried to survive as christians...and the church multiplied and real love as never before helped them grow as never before in the mist of death and suffering."
Today we are praying for Kenya do not forget to pray..."thy kingdom come thy will be done ON EARTH as in heaven.
