When It Rains....

This week has been an extremely long one. Last weekend we preached in Mattoon, IL came home Monday, 10 hours on the road, to a broken furnace, so my children and Mother-in-law and grandmother had no heat all week and weekend except the fireplace. They survived, thank the Lord. Got up Tuesday and went to get the Expedition that was supposed to cost ONLY $200. and it ended up costing $525. I worked like a dog (on dogs) and then yesterday they finally got the part in for our furnace he came and put it in. It ended up costing $422. Then this evening we were on our way to pick up the preacher that is preaching for us tomorrow to take him out to dinner and the Expedition, that I just had fixed won't start. Then to top it off, we pulled out on Highway 18 and the van's transmission slipped 2 times.

I know it rains on the just and the unjust, but this is ridiculous. I think the devil is mad and is attacking our finances, because I have had some issues with trusting in this area. (notice PAST tense) It could also be the reason I'm up at 1:30 in the morning.

I'm asking you to pray. Not so much that God will "get us through" because I know HE will. I'm asking you to pray for me and my faith. I want to trust the Lord to take care of us.

I told God today, "Ok, I've paid my tithes and my offerings and I've done all I can to "physically" take care of the situation, so I'm leaving it up to YOU." And I have tried to do that, but as Moma, I see so many things that need attention and I'm trying not to worry and fret. My husband teases me and says, "Don't worry about it, God's got it under control. And she (speaking of me) says, Well, somebody needs to worry, you and God sure don't."

He's actually sleeping and snoring away in the other room. I'm jealous.

So again, I'm asking for prayer for me and my faith. I've seen God do some mighty mighty things, and I just don't want to have to battle with fear and unbelief.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, I'm done whining now!!!!

Re: When It Rains....

I will pray for you before I go to bed.
Just a few suggestions too if that's okay.

1.Buy some extra potable heaters. most come with remote control now.

2. I know I'll make some people mad, but next time don't buy an american car. they always break down. Buy a Toyota. They NEVER break down! I'm a witness

3. You all make too many road trips. It's too tiresome. You need to stay home and relax

1. We did, and they worked ok, but it will make our electic bill go sky high, but we used them anyway.

2. We've had nothing but trouble with the Expedition since we bought it. It goes to show in my books, that Ford is not a very good vehicle. We had one before and it gave us fits, but we tried it again, but probably won't next time we buy.

3. Hey Bro, you go where God and your pastor tell you to. We actually went to Mattoon for their music conference and preached in Herrick as well as Mattoon. Yes, it is tiresome, but you gotta do what God says do. Also, our pastor, asked him to stay and preach, so we did. Blame it on God.

If I was home, I probably would not relax anyways. Got too much to do.

Thanks for the advice though, but mainly the prayers.

Re: When It Rains....

LCS, you are in my prayers.
You and CS are good people & I remember some teaching I had on these types of circumstances & the one thing that stood out is this.

Good & Bad run on the same tracks & they usually arrive at the same time!

You have had the bad--expect some good to come your way!

Re: When It Rains....

Good thing you got those $10,000 offerings in Illinois, huh? LOL!! Herrick brought back some memories. Pastor Tom Suey is one FUNNY FUNNY fellow; we used to connect with them some a few years back. Her mom & dad go to Christ Church in Nashville.

Seriously, I'll be praying for you guys. It does sound like you've stirred up something that the enemy doesn't appreciate. Hang in there!!

Really, thank the Lord for the offerings that we received. They went a long ways in helping pay for all the maladies that have come our way this week. God knows what's going on (TTL for that, cause I sure don't!)

We have a guest preacher here this morning and maybe he was trying to stir me up and upset me so that I couldn't get what I needed to. Maybe, I don't know. Or he is mad because of what happened in Herrick and Mattoon.

Living By Faith

Words: James Wells (verses 1 and 2) and R.E. Winsett (verse 3) (1918)
Music: J.L. Heath (1918)

I care not today what the morrow may bring
If shadow or sunshine or rain
The Lord I know ruleth o'er everything
And all of my worry is vain

Though tempests may blow and the storm clouds arise
Obscuring the brightness of life
I'm never alarmed at the overcast skies
The Master looks on at the strife

Our Lord will return to this earth some sweet day
Our troubles will then all be o'er
The master so gently will lead us away
Beyond that blest heavenly shore

Chorus:
Living by faith (yes, living by faith)
In Jesus above (in Jesus above)
Trusting, confiding (trusting, confiding) in His great love (yes, in His great love)
And from all harm safe (from all harm safe)
In His sheltering arm (His sheltering arm)
I'm living by faith (I'm living by faith)
And feel no alarm (feel no alarm)
Just for you, Lady Coonskinner. I was working in a house the other day where a little boy of 4 was living with his parents. I had to cut a hole in the floor for the AC system. As I started the saw, I saw the boy move closer to, and stand, behind his daddy. Who could blame him? A strange man, using noisy tools to cut a hole in his floor.

When problems arise, just move closer to, and stand behind your Daddy. Remember... "your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him." Mat 6:8

Psa 37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; [so] shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Psa 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Psa 37:5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass.
Psa 37:6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
Psa 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
