John Mayer

Do any of you listen to John Mayer?

I very seldom listen to anything but gospel music but on my occasional excursion (usually to youtube during the work day) I will take in a little John Mayer from time to time.

I relate to the guy.

He was the nerd in school.
The outcast.
The nobody.

Nobody even knew he could sing. He went to college and then dropped out to pursue his music career.

I wasn't an outcast in school but I honestly feel for those people whose best days are behind them. People who were the top notch folks in high school and the rest of their life is a journey to try and recapture that.

Those are days gone by and I am moving on and moving up. I tell my kids... I want to change the world... and they know I mean it.

I may pass from this life with only a few hundred people knowing who I am but I never live a day as a nobody.

Anyway... that is the rant in me that John Mayer speaks to.

Here is one of my favorite songs of his.

It is called No Such Thing.

The lyrics will be posted underneath the video.

No Such Thing Lyrics
Artist(Band):John Mayer
Review The Song (54) Print the Lyrics

Send "No Such Thing" Ringtones to Cell

"Welcome to the real world", she said to me
Condescendingly
Take a seat
Take your life
Plot it out in black and white
Well I never lived the dreams of the prom kings
And the drama queens
I'd like to think the best of me
Is still hiding
Up my sleeve

They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something's better
On the other side

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
just to lie you've got to rise above

So the good boys and girls take the so called right track
Faded white hats
Grabbing credits
and
Maybe transfers
They read all the books but they can't find the answers
And all of our parents
They're getting older
I wonder if they've wished for anything better
While in their memories
Tiny tragedies

They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something's better
On the other side

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you got to rise above

I am invincible (x3)
As long as I'm alive

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just to lie you've got to rise above

I just can't wait til my 10 year reunion
I'm gonna bust down the double doors
And when I stand on these tables before you
You will know what all this time was for
