a young African pastor

This script was found among the papers of a young African pastor in Zimbabwe after he was martyred....
I'm a part of the fellowship of the unashamed. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I'm a disciple of His and I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.
My past is redeemed. My present makes sense. My future is secure. I'm done and finished with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals.
I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, or first, or tops, or recognized, or praised, or rewarded. I live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by Holy Spirit power.
My face is set. My gait is fast. My goal is heaven. My road may be narrow, my way rough, my companions few, but my guide is reliable and my mission is clear.
I will not be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed.
I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice or hesitate in the presence of the adversary. I will not negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I won't give up, shut up, or let up until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and preached up for the cause of Christ.
I am a disciple of Jesus. I must give until I drop, preach until all know, and work until He comes. And when He does come for His own, He'll have no problems recognizing me. My colors will be clear!

May we all love Him more and above all human loves. May our passion be His passion and our commitment be to His cause and His cause alone.

"Fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you." -- 2 Timothy 1:6

Re: a young African pastor

There is a book i have called tortured for christ, i have also did stuff with a group called voice of the martyrs.

The stories that happen in real time today, will break your heart.

People getting tourtured for Jesus name or killed.

People in china who are caught with a bible inprisoned for 6+ years making christmas lights to sale.

churches burned, sons killed infront of their fathers. most of this type of reading never makes it into the 4 walled buildings we call church, many of us including myself take for granted the freedom we enjoy in praise and worship of God.

Ace,

I ordered a copy of Tortured. It did not come in. However, the 5 other people that I ordered the book for received their copies.

Sister Alvear, I pasted your post in an email to my three children. I hope it inspires them as it did me.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
