Promiseland Churches Baptize 100+ Today

I saw on a Facebook post by Pastor Kenneth Phillips that two churches associated with his Promiseland Central Austin church had great baptismal services today.

Promiseland West in West Austin (Texas) pastored by Randy Phillips baptized 63 people today and Promiseland San Marcos pastored by Robin Steele baptized 40.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Is that foreign to you? In my 52 years I have been in many services that had baptisms planned as part of the service.

I doubt it. While i do not agree with Bro Phillips on several things, i'm pretty sure he still sees baptism in Jesus name as essential. I would say that being that it is a large church that they do plan baptisms every so often. But i'm sure it is much more often than once a year. Probably scheduled as requests to be baptized come in. I suppose i really don't know im just making assumptions tho...
